8mm Rope Lineman’s Belt

I have a HSS lineman’s belt but want another to go around branches. I have a bunch of 8mm rope left over from putting Versa buttons on my hawk helium sticks so I thought I would use that? Not sure if that’s ok or not.

If it is, what would be the right size rope to Prusik knot? I think I’ve read 50%-75% size is ideal.
 
I use 8mm for my lineman’s with a ropeman 1. I know that is a smaller diameter than the ropeman 1 specs, but it works great for me. I only weigh 145 and the lineman’s never sees my full weight or impact from a fall like a tether would.

I have a Ropeman 1 that I currently have on my HSS strap. Thought about putting it on the 8mm rope, but would probably want to put a backup Prusik on it then just to be safe.
 
I really like a sterling hollow block for my lineman’s belt on 8mm rope. Grabs well and is relatively easy to adjust, tied in a Klemheist knot.
