So...I finally had the opportunity to go frame by frame of the SYS video. Loving some of the design work on the mantis. Pulled these screen shots for fun/dissection.

I am curious of the purpose of the hardware in the center of the final pic...

While I usually rack my brain for ideas on how to either sneak a purchase past her, or convince her I need something, it normally ends up with her shaking her head and knowing that it’s a never ending battle so as long as our bills are paid at the end of the month, she doesn’t tend to care too awfully bad.

On the cached website there was a removable adjustment as an add on option. Appears to be same conceptually as the lower kestrel adjustment just more modular.

Interesting...gives the ability to remove if you aren't going to use. Pretty slick!

Would you say the Mantis size large is equivalent to the Kestrel size 2? I originally had the size 1 but it was too small and went to a size 2. I'm 5'11" 185 lbs, 34-35" waist.
I would say that a large would be good for you too.

How many folks bought sewing machines after his thread on his DIY Kestrel build?

Personally, I think this is an awesome community of seriously bad ass hunters that I'm thrilled to be a part of, but it is a small community and one of my favorite aspects of this community and this site are the willingness of everyone to share ideas and different projects and ways to tackle similar problems and I'm not gonna lie a business venture that takes a significant part of the experienced community potentially out of that fold does concern me.

In the long run, I hope it won't make a difference as it looks like everyone is going to buy a mantis and a predator anyway, lol, I'm super pumped for you guys, I hope it all works out, although I will continue to use my sitdrag and fleece saddles with a rock climbing harness, just too many other things that I need.....and I'm cheap, lol.

His build didn't cause me to buy my first sewing machine...it did push me from contemplating to buying my second one :grimacing:

I agree with your sentiments on the forum. But, I don't see people stopping their flow of information. I for one already have most of the materials I need to make a mantis (did I say that out loud). I'm still planning on making a DIY kestrel as well. I managed ok in the sitdrag this last year. I just enjoy the creating/DIY process, and I'm too cheap to fork out the money needed to play with all the new gear.

I don't think the flow of information hinders the saddle businesses in any way, shape, or form. I actually think it is quite the opposite. Something someone shares as a modification may lead to changes in their product version 2. And while I may be making my own version of their product, my having additional saddles will also make it very easy to introduce my friends to saddle hunting. The number of them that have a similar DIY drive is pretty close to zero. So if they like it enough to convert...I know they aren't making their own...

@redsquirrel would there be a sizing chart sent prior to release to a answer our sizing questions, or should we continue to send in our personal measurements?

I would make sure you send all your personal measurements straight to @g2outdoors. In particular he wants your bust size so he can fit you for a dress just like the one I have in that photo he loves of me!

BTW I am 5’10” 280lbs with a 42” waist, I like to swing in saddles, and long walks in the dark and I love chasing tail

I just sent you a PM...did I say that out loud...ugh...nvmd

What is going to be the protocol and procedure for amsteel bridge replacement?

It looks to be two brummel splices sewn into the design, no?
