Air rifle recommendation

Every break barrel air rifle I've ever shot has been trash. My theory is the barrel isn't returning to the exact same position every time you load it, and you don't have a good seal at the rear of the pellet. Just a bad design. RWS supposedly does better, but I can't imagine any break barrel matching a fixed when accuracy is concerned.
Completely agree. No such thing as an accurate breakover.
I've killed a lot of critters with an old Benjamin pump in .177
If money were no object, I would own an Air Force air rifle. Those are bad ass air guns.

Full, unless you think you can sneak up pretty close.

Ok. Turns out my 870 has Mod and Turkey chokes only. My Stoeger has Mod, IC, Full, and Turkey.

Take the Stoeger with Full, or the 870 with Mod? Assuming I can't find 22LR tomorrow. Maybe I will find an 870 Fill choke I suppose.

Modified should be good. Or take the stoeger, you are shooting squirrels with a shotgun, don't over think it. Pro tip, if a squirrel runs to the other side of the tree throw your hat to the other side.

When you get some, look up Clay Newcomb squirrel tail wreaths. Festive as all get out.

I would use the turkey choke since it should be the fullest. Squirrels with a shotgun is quite low tech. Any shotgun will work. I shot my first game animal, a squirrel with a 20 gauge with improved cylinder choke in 1969. Bite lightly when eating them since there will be BBs.

I don't think it is legal here to carry a 22 rifle while archery deer hunting.

I’m carrying the HC mini (6#3oz) and Edgun Leshiy (4#3oz). 10 pounds of compact death from above for all things gray and furry.

I'm getting my Benjamin Maximus today according to UPS. I don't have a scuba adapter or pump yet so I may have to just fondle it for few days. Is this foreplay? :mask:
Edit: I just went out and filled the squirrel feeder which is on the ground. I can have one cooking in 15 minutes.

I'm finally back at work, last 2 mornings I was tempted to shoot the 3 out back while coffee was brewing. Sunday morning will be the reckoning.

I just got my Maximus and it seems to be completely empty. I read others received them with 1000 psi. My scuba adapter is due to be delivered Saturday. I am down till then. The nice thing about spring type guns is nothing else is needed to make them work. I have a 177 and a 22 springer.

Keep us posted brother. I still haven't bought one yet...

Same here .... key word is firearm. Air powered skirts that.
I hadn't thought about that. They just added airguns for small game in PA a few years ago and I haven't read the regs yet . It might be perfectly legal.

This gets very high compliments from the guys on the airgun forums.
This plus a hand pump might be in your wheelhouse Red Beard

And this is a great deal on a really good hand pump

Good call/suggestion! @bj139 just had one of these delivered. I'm waiting to see how it turns out for him.

I edited my last post to include a link to a really good deal on a pump. If you are serious about getting a PCP, you should jump on that
Does the hand pump take the fun out of it? Is it hard enough to pump, that you refrain from shooting at stupid stuff?

it doesn’t stop me. It’s free exercise that gets a fun tangible result. Or you can just pay more money and have your work done for you.
