Folks,
I have made and either traded or sold 2 DIY saddles to folks here on saddlehunter. One of them came up in a post that had stitching where the linemans loop connects to the saddle itself come undone. It was one of the earlier saddles made, and ended up shelving it to move on to another build.

Im pretty upset about it, and dont want anyone to get hurt. If I sold or traded a DIY saddle to you, please contact me. I would like to buy it back.

!!!!!DO NOT USE THE SADDLE!!!!!!

As long as you were honest up front and explained what the deal was before the money exchange you shouldn't be upset. I've sold plenty of half finished projects (nothing saddle related) that i explained to the buyer the potential risks...... It's on them if they didn't listen.

Thanks Weldabeast. Ya, it was very clear that these 2 were DIY saddles, but these DIY saddles were sold/traded knowing that the recipient intended to use it. Would MUCH rather take an ass chewin and forum beat down than see someone get hurt.

I give you credit for coming forward and owning the situation. This is the exact reason I have refused to make Wraptors for anyone else, despite the inquiries.

Standup guy right here!!!!

Solid post, and brings up a great topic. I’m not sure we should be selling DIY saddles here or anywhere really. I’m sure 95% of the time it will work out but it takes 1 person to sell a shoddy saddle or use the wrong thread etc and someone can get hurt.

If you look through your messages maybe you can reach out to the guys you sold them too? I personally appreciate you and your decision to try to make get them back in your hands.

Good on you brother. I have mixed emotions about DIY stuff being traded or sold. I would hate to see anyone get hurt from DIY or commercial manufactured equipment. Take safety as your personal responsibility wheter it is DIY or not, commerical products can fail too. Only difference is the liability coverage offered by companies. Liability coverage doesn't mean squat if your dead or some sort of cripple. Personally, and this is just me, I don't have a problem obtaining DIY stuff from guys as long as feel confident they know what they are doing. There are only a handful of those here. I've also seen a lot of DIY stuff I wouldn't put a cat in, and I hate cats. If you are going to DIY make sure you do a ton of research and ask a bunch of questions to more experienced guys. Be safe fellas, others depend on you. This is a fantastic forum. Best I've been a part of.

Buying or selling DIY don’t bother me a bit. AS long as both parties are clear with what is being bought and sold up front.
I have sold a few of my sitdrags and was very up front with what they were and what they were not.
I also want to ad when you have an issue with something you bought the seller should be the first person contact via text, pm, or email that goes with anything you purchase here or anywhere.

Went through my messages and posts and reached out to both guys that I have traded/sold saddles to. Also contacted the guy who I gave one to. Should be good to go.
