Amsteel bridge

So what I gather is my girth hitch of 5/16 amsteel has a breaking point around 6000 lbs?
Yeah you lose about 50 - 55% of strength. But am I missing something with the girth hitches on both sides? What's the difference between the girth hitches and fixed loops? Is it so they stay in place?

Yes, you can lock them throughout your bridge loop which changes comfort. 6k pounds is good enough for me.

Yeah, I girth them to fine tune the angle they pull the loops which effects comfort. A lower girth cups the bottom of the saddle on the butt more. Even an inch adjustment changes how the saddle feels.
The girth could reduce the strength of the Amsteel just like a knot does...I don't know for sure. I can't imagine that it would effect the strength enough for my 180 lb weight with how its used...ie not fall arrest.

For us that don't want to trust our lives to our abilities in DYI could you use a quick link on each side of saddle with an amsteel dogbone or continuous loop? Or have i lost my direction?

Not sure about using a link, I'm sure it would work. But check out G2's video on splicing amsteel, he's really thorough and it's easy. I just used the knitting needle from Walmart, ten minutes later it was done.

I just made a double lock brummel bridge out of 1/4" a steel for my kestrel. One end fixed to the saddle and other I use a carabiner. Amsteel seems to roll smoother through the tether carabiner. Still testing to see what one I like better.
