Amsteel

Ok, thanks. First splice! Would've been easier if I had the next size up DIY fid! Lol

Not trying to be ugly...but that bury looks rough. When you fish the fid up the center you have to bunch up the rope so your fid stays in the center and not going out and over strands. I've seen the thin wire trick and that looks way easier. As for fid size...I bought a 7/16 for 7/16 rope and it was way too small. I use an old aluminum arrow to splice 1/4" amsteel and it works great.

It is easier and preferred to lock brummel on side directly to the bridge loop.
You only need one end to wrap around the bridge loop and burry the tag end. Then you just put a lock stitch in it. The lock stitch is only to keep the tag end (burry) from coming out when there isn’t any tension on the bridge.

I'm old enuff to always take advice from guys that know more than I do!! That was just a small trial piece, the next one was a little better. Will try the thin wire trick also. Always happy to learn from you guys, thanks. I just like figuring stuff out (old EOD habits die hard)

2117 XX75 is the perfect size arrow shaft for 1/4" Amsteel.

I just made my first amsteel 24" bridge. To get enough bury They meet in the middle of the 24" Don't like that bump in the middle when rotating. How little of bury can we get by with if stitched

I have as little as 4" for whoopie slings and it holds fine.
I'm starting to wonder if whoopies are underutilized.
