Anyone actual job or public appearance completely surprised others that your passion is hunting?

I don't routinely wear camo in public. But I have some hunting related shirts and hats, like a THP and Catman shirts. I think some people are caught off guard when I tell them I hunt. My wife's grandma still doesn't know because my wife said she wouldn't approve of it. Almost 8 years later and she still doesn't know or at least hasn't brought it up. I work in a hospital and have several coworkers that hunt. I also drive a Prius, so that really throws them for a loop. I do have a Tacoma but it's not rednecked out either.

I don't fit neatly into most boxes including hunter stereotype.

I sort of look the part in some ways with a large beard and a truck, but I work in tech, have a masters degree, and don't really talk about hunting or wear camo outside of the woods.

Imagine that....a low key serial killer

I'm a biologist with a masters degree and work mainly with botanists/ecologists. I take great pride in treating my coworkers to venison bratwurst, fried wild turkey, pan seared duck, etc. I play in a band for fun and do a lot of kayak fishing with the kids, in addition to attending their sports functions. It occasionally surprises people that I hunt because I spend professional and personal time working to protect natural resources, but the species I'm after are generally plentiful.

I used to be a professional musician but quit so I wasn’t on the road so much. All my old musician friends crap a brick when I tell them I spend 100% of my spare time scouting or hunting rather than playing music.

See that's one thing people don't get about living in TN. It's not just "music city", pretty much everyone plays something.

Haha, not that it is a competition, but you might be the most unexpected.

Next would be the person that I purchased my Original Lone Wolf Sand Cast hang on, he was a professional potter that recently retired from 40 years of making hand crafted vases and ceramic pots. He would load a van with stuff and sell at farmer markets on weekends. Didn't think you can really make a living out of it but he did. No eBay or Etsy, just lots of long weekends and beliefs that people would want to buy unique hand made potteries.

Winter was all about hunting because the farmer markets slow down due to cold.

Theres a way if you have the will.

I work for Starbucks. Yeah, people are shocked but I have converted so many to loving venison lol. I am also in the Florida panhandle though so there are lots of hunters In the area. I am a veteran and a hunter that works at Starbucks. So I don’t fit the stereotype that people contribute to that.

I tattoo for a living and I suppose the way I look doesn’t always add up to what people think my hobbies would be haha. I’m very passionate about Muskie fishing and my passion for hunting continues to grow every year as well! Sometimes I think hunting may have surpassed fishing? That’s a tough decision though. I’m glad we have all walks of life involved or I might not have met some of the folks I have over the years.

Thank you for your services. Yes that was a (PG)double entendre.

mmm Venison Latte. Or maybe those sous vide bites.

I have this wonderful vision of a barista slipping venison into peoples' orders and then yelling SURPRISE! Please don't ruin this for me.

I've never been but isn't Muskie fishing a lot like hunting?

Besides the "camo" stereotype, I'm it. Hunting is all I talk about given the chance, to an annoying level. Hunting maintains my sanity, if my ol lady ever told me to chose...well get to packin' sweetheart.

I've been blessed to have a decent job in my field and stayed rural so I could hunt. Can't stand cities and will be forever a farm boy hick who did ok in school and got a post secondary education. Do people I work with know I hunt? Absolutely. Do I wear camo every day? Never. I do enjoy camo when hunting though. It puts me in predator mode. I do find it odd how many people don't hunt but selfishly, I'm glad that means more deer for me to kill.

You lost me at Prius

Dont listen to the haters. My dream car is still a Miata (No I am not kidding). Strapping a 10pts on top of its trunk is still high on my bucket list. My hunting pack must fit in the passenger seat, the real reason I ditched treestands, there I admitted it.

I love reading the different careers and jobs mentioned on this.
