Anyone fletch their own arrows?

Weld anything from the crack a dawn to a broken heart...long arc, short arc, heliarc, and in the dark

Right hand, left hand, side to side....no crack to deep and no gap to wide

Just shoot mine tonight. Sirius Vulcans, 200gr inserts, 200gr maasias. Figure I'm about 680gr hammers. My bow is super quiet now. But man is it slow. Gotta get a 220fps ez v insert. Broad heads were hard to find in lower weights. (Original goal we about 600gr) But this set up paper tuned well So I just went with it. Might adjust some next year. But to close to the seasson to change now. I used the same blitzenburg we fletched my first arrows with 27 years ago. Except I had to order a right wing to go with the broadheads. Still fit like a charm. I went reflective wraps, and all white 3 feathers. But I did noc tune all my arrows before I fletched em. They were all shooting really nice. Other than dropping fast out at 40yrds.. probably for the better to keep me from shooting that far anyway. Screenshot_20200915-184449.png

This is my first year with tape. Seems okay so far. Its a little bit of a challenge for me to get the backing off but I'm getting better at it.
One thing to get use to is the tape is instant, not like glue. Make sure the fletch is perfectly placed before you make contact with the shaft.

Use a knife blade to prick the end of the tape. Comes right up.

Sounds like a Big Johnston tee shirt if you remember them!!!! LOL

I do my own starting with raw shafts. I use an Arizona EZ Fletcher and it works like a dream. I have several of them for short and long vanes. Right and left offset, and right and left helix.
I shoot a crossbow these days and my magic arrow is 18" black eagle executioner, spine matched and spine balanced. I use 110 gr brass inserts with aluminum flat nocks, or lumenok, for two different Excalibur crossbows.
My vane of choice is the Bohing Blazer vane. Right around 425grains with a heavy FOC...
IM making arrows right now actually

Been using the Blitz for many years now. Only fletching jig I ever used. Have the 3 clamps but never used the left wing clamp. Started with plastic vanes on my compound, now all I use is a longbow and arrows have feathers. I like the look of the right wing fletching. @MattMan81 nice job. @Murph4028 looks nice. I bet you would do a great job with 4 or 5 inch feathers.

I just started arrow building with a bitzenburger and it's really easy. I wrapped and fletched up a few arrows tonight and got about 10 shots in. First time using a four fletch configuration. I really like not worrying about a cock fletch and they seem to fly really well.

Hey Tom, I just wanted to share a tip that's been working for me as far as the tape backing is concerned. I found that after the tape has been applied to the feather and cut to length instead of trying to peel the backing off from the ends try using your finger nail to pick it off from the side near one of the ends. It seems easier to separate the tape from the backing from the side. Hope this helps.

I've been using a utility knife blade to pick at the backing. It's working okay. Everything is a trade off. I'm faster with glue than with the tape, but the tape is instant. I can tape fletch an arrow in 5 minutes and shoot it right away. With glue, I always left it sit over night.
I'm liking the tape more and more. I doubt that I will ever go back to glue, but let's see if the tape holds as long and is as durable as the glue.

Been shooting taped fletching for years on my traditional setup. Only times I have ever had adhesion issues was if I let the tape get old and or hot and on a couple of arrows that I didnt bother to clean before fletching. Otherwise it had been a very durable method of fletching for me. Have shot them through hay bales, foam targets and even sent one through a small sapling at a 3D shoot without loosing a fletch.
