I'm a leaner that likes to be ultralight and rarely need my knee pads.

Anyone use something like this?

Any downsides if you rarely put knees to the tree?

I'm thinking the foam might conform to the tree and grab pretty well. The velcro can be fixed with some of webbing and plastic snap buckles I have.

I am using these and haven't had a problem. Tree noise isn't bad. I put the m on when I get set up at the tree.

I run those same pads with some tan spray paint over the red sides so turkeys are less likely to bust me. Reasonably comfortable, pretty secure for shorts walks as well.
The other thing I would consider is adding pouches to the knees of your pants and slipping football pads in there. That's probably as light an option as you can get

I've used low-profile soft volleyball kneepads; I prefer these for late season because I can wear them under my overalls and not worry about getting tangled up in my insulated bibs. I got them cheap at Walmart; I was surprised that I was able to find a pair that fit because I'm a tiny smidge larger than the typical teenage volleyball player.

Not cheap foam but I like these and no Velcro ;)....

I have used these for the past couple of years. I am a 50/50 sit/lean and these do okay. The velcro doesn't bother me much as I put them on at the truck/house and wear them in. The foam isn't great in them so after 20 minutes of sitting you can feel it. I have started to strap a thin thermo-seat pad to my platform and use that in combination with these on the tree.

I use the ones in your link or ones just like them. I eventually put some camo duck tape on the front because the bark was damaging the foam. I also put plastic buckles on the straps because the Velcro was loud. I like how they just need one strap on the bottom so they don’t interfere with my cargo pockets. If I feel the need for additional knee padding I hang my back pack in front of me at knee height. I have used them for years.

It's a plastic but not a hard plastic. It's somewhat grippy similar to an Otter Box phone case. If you have a Menards store near you, they have these in stock.
Awesome, thanks, that exactly what I was wondering. I bought a different pair of pads from harbor freight, only to find out that they squeak a little bit. Have you found these to do this at all?

I use Milwaukee flex knee pads. $30 on Amazon. They work great. I can't see paying 60 dollars for a thin knee pad from a saddle company.

I bought these to try this year. I think $13. They are foam but instead of Velcro they have a slot you push the end through and it locks like a 3 bar slider of sorts. We will see.
