Arrow Build

If the EFOC is 30% or more the arrow with no feathers gos ware the tip gos weight leads if the arrow is built correct.

I am shooting Easton Axis 5 mm arrows. cut to 27 inches. They are 400 spine. I shoot a Mathews VXR. Pulling about 66 pounds with a 28 inch draw. I am planning on using Iron Will Wide broadheads, but do not know what size yest (100, 125, 150, etc). I also plan on using Iron Will's 25 grain Steel collar to reinforce the point. They have options of 25, 50, 75, and 100 grain steel inserts. I want to keep the arrows as I just bought them. I want to shoot "big boy arrows" with high FOC. I also don't want to compromise the structural integrity of the shaft. What do you think is the heaviest I can go with the inserts as well as the broadhead if I were to keep the 400 spine arrows?

Archers advantage software is available online and can be renewed annually. I highly recommend them or another similar software for your situation. 400 spine will definitely limit your ability to create a big boy arrow. I’m using iron will BH’s and footers as well. Almost the exact set up as you.

Shooting Mathews Halon 32 70 pounds @ 29”. 28” Easton Axis .260 spine. 125 grain BH, 25 grain footer, 75 grain insert. This set up is slightly stiff according to the software but would be slightly week with a .300 shaft.

It’s not possible to be too stiff with a modern compound. You should be able to get a stiff setup to shoot just fine. A week shaft is another story. Hard to tune and as you already eluded to, potentially dangerous.
