Arrow Build

What spine are those arrows?
GT spine: 400 (5575 from previous days).

I buy the "blemished" GT Trad arrows. Every now and then Big Jim has a sale on them, or you can pick them up on an auction site. I use steel wool/dish soap to remove all the manufacturer labels. I use good ol'e fashion rattle can paint to cap (in this case, the white). I put on very thin coats to assure no runs.....generally 4 coats.

Done! I’ll get one more “pretty” picture of them. In a couple hours.

Dont feel bad posting more pictures. Nobody is sick of it!
I wanna get into this. Especially the feathers, even on my compound bow arrows im very interested in going this route to get my FOC even higher. You refered to a bitzenuager jig. Is that a typo or different from a regular bitzenburger jig. Not that i hunt in the rain much...but how do feathers hold up/affect flight when wet?

Typo on the bitzenburger jig spelling.

Feathers can be temperamental rascals. That said, I've never had an issue with shooting feathers in the rain.......of course, a trad bow is a close range game. I've used a product called Feather-Dri (link below) that works well. The option that most use is to simply carry a vaned arrow in your quiver on rainy days just in case. To be completely honest: if it's raining "cats and dogs", I'm in the house drinking coffee, not sitting in a tree! I bet more seasoned veterans like Allegheny Tom can add more value to the "feathers in the rain" topic.

My hunting partner uses feathers with his compound. He LOVES them (3 inch feathers). He refers to feathers as God's steering wheel for flying sticks. Nice thing about feathers is their forgiveness....even in the rain. If you shoot a super high speed compound, I'm not sure feathers are the way to go. But, for heavy, moderate speed arrows, I believe feathers work great regardless of bow type.

Yea, i hear ya. If its already raining im pretty stubborn to climb a tree.
But...if im in a tree and THEN it starts raining. Im pretty stubborn to climb down haha
