Arsenal Platform

What’s this attraction to having a carbon platform? In order to have a platform of equal strength of aluminum the carbon version will have to be much more material? I think the latitude sticks are light weight not because of the carbon but because of the lack of hardware. Is there really a weight savings to having a carbon fiber platform thats equal strength?

Metal is a tuning fork in the woods, carbon and plastic not so much. The weight isn’t something to me as much as the noise. I am interested in that razor though.

One advantage of certain non-plate materials is more complex construction geometry is much more affordable.

For example, machining something like the Onyx platform out of solid stock is cost prohibitive.

And there are even way more complex geometries that need to be explored imo.

I'm still really unsure of the nuaces of the restrictions imposed on me after I got this vendor tag, but I will say that the true weight savings of a carbon fiber platform come from platforms of a larger size.

1 important thing many forget is that pure epoxy resin is actually very close to the weight of aluminum!
So the key is in the strength to weight ratio and how the shape and cf sheets are formed. A carbon fiber plate(most of the weight is from the resin) the same thickness as a Fix or Arsenal platform will be heavier, so design is key to making a cf much lighter than an aluminum platform of the same dimensions.

All about that lay up schedule

I don't buy it. Ton's of people slaying monsters in the woods have massive metal stands, ladders, etc ...There's just not any science that proves some kind of carbon fiber sticks clacking together sound like antlers to deer. The deer are more than likely well aware that the sound is not antlers. But who knows?

That may fly in the tractor land between been feilds back east .but make any litte clinck in the blacktail woods and your hunt is over.find à New spot for the day and try again.

Its funny watching dudes carry in picnick tables on their back all clangity clang to the corner of a corner feild where they could have just walked up a ladder stand.awsome

I agree with most of this.

If the deer treat the carbon fiber clang the same as the aluminum ting, your still going to be packing up. I'm just not sold that the deer hear the carbon fiber sticks and platforms clanging together and are like "hey there's some big boys fighting over there let me go check it out". More than likely it's "welp, haven't heard that sound before, i'm staying away from that area".

I'm definitely not opposed to carbon fiber. But I'm still going to do everything in my power to prevent noise anyway. So what am I gaining with carbon fiber?

Better to handle in really cold temperatures, also carbon is a dull noise unlike aluminum. They both make noise, but I prefer what’s more damp sounding.
I do agree that you need to do you best with both materials to keep quiet, but a mature deer will definitely spook from any abnormal sounds.
He didn’t get mature by being dumb…

I don’t think either noise is acceptable, I’m just basing this on my own experiences. I used to have the stacked outdoors sticks and I still use the Pursuit Platform. I have an EDP and a solo scout as well. The scout is so small I can pretty much control that but I have dinged and donged the EDP and other metal platforms,
stands and sticks…… the stacked sticks were and the pursuit are just inherently quieter if a buckle or a biner errantly clink against them compared to metal. It always seems especially true when trying to set up close to bedding in the pm or trying to sneak in early and set up in the dark in the am!

The videos I have watched of the latitude sticks they seem much more clangy than the timberninja and catalyst carbon sticks I had. Must be the material.
I concur with this. I had four timber ninja carbon fiber sticks and have four latitude sticks now. I am no scientist, but I have to think that the noise difference is due to sound being able to resonate internally in the timber ninja since it is hollow like a normal beast stick or something similar plus the material is actually carbon fiber. The latitude stick is solid and not all carbon fiber. Both are still much better than metal sticks though.

Still, which would you choose?
