Is the 2.0 thicker?

What a let down. Supposed to be 2.5lbs. 6oz over, that’s approaching half a pound.
I’m no legal expert so I’m asking this honestly; how is this not false advertising if consumers are getting a platform nearly .5 pound heavier? Ignoring the expected ship dates because it’s a preorder so I think we all know that’s not firm. Website still shows 2 pounds 8 oz. On a product like this in an industry that is so weight driven if the platform is coming in half pound higher than what’s been advertised that seems…iffy, shady, deceptive (I don’t know, pick an adjective) to me.

I don’t have one yet so I’m not saying mine weighs more than advertised, just going off posted weight. Also, just asking questions, not saying someone should be sued. Just curious how companies can do this besides the obvious; we buy it anyway. Current weight listed on their site. IMG_6449.jpeg

In what measurement? Folded thickness? Platform thickness?

Looks like the 2.0 is thicker in both. Still plenty thin, I thought they teased thinner. I guess that’s thinner than the competitor’ platforms. It‘s probably good if it’s a bit beefier.

Gonna be a big Sunday shipping day…

I emailed them Friday and this was their response. Honestly, most things can be blamed on FedEx, they’re probably the cause of global warming and why our two presidential candidates need aides to change their diapers.

What stinks is Arsenal hit the advertised weights with the Gen1 platforms. So they seem to be going in the wrong direction here with Gen2 transparency.

Just got around to watching this guy's video. 6'6" and 350lb. This puts my mind at ease for any reservations I had for this platform as far as my weight goes, at 275 without gear.

I just wish he had turned around on it.

It’s not the best review, but that is a pretty big fellow on the platform. Still, I’m not sure it tells much of a story. Platform is already set up from the getgo. And it’s a one tree demonstration.

I really wish I had more info on whether or not the post twists, if it’s been beefed up from the 1.0, and how well it consistently locks to the tree with the new rope cleat.

The Trophyline Hyperlite platform is supposed to be 2lbs 4oz, and 12x12. So it’s a couple inches narrower and doesn’t have the fold flat or rope cleat features of the Mag2.0, but it looks like a proven design for a consistent secure cam to the tree. Camstrap adds about 5oz but I already have to use one with my Magnum 1.0 to get it stable. And switching to stuff like the Trucker Elite attachment can cut most of the attachment weight out anyway.

As much as I like the wider Mag2.0 platform, if it is tough to get solid, maybe a 3/4lb-ish lighter platform that cams hard is the better option.

Did you order one?

I did. Really thinking about cancelling.
Same and I loved my v1. Wondering if I made a mistake selling it… for only 5 oz(less than half what was promised) reduction, this one is 2 inches narrower and less than an inch extra depth. I’m sure the attachment method won’t be as good, don’t personally need the extra thickness to the bottom(added weight they offset with larger gaps in the platform), not convinced I like the extra sharp teeth on the top folding standoff compared to the prior style that treated that as alignment on tree but not for gripping which I think was pretty critical to its function without putting too much pressure on the locking tab.
The weight discrepancy is a big let down.

Yeah, I just sent a request for cancellation.

I do think the 2.0 will probably be an improvement over the original though.

I think the new platform has good dimensions. I think the cleat should be an improvement on the original tie off. The platform still folds down thin enough. I expect the fit and finish to be equal. But we now know it isn’t drastically lighter, and it remains to be seen how rock solid it really is. That latter concern is really my hang up. 2.5lbs was kind of pie in the sky, but maybe I bit on that. It’s irritating to see the true colors there.

I still have the gen1 RZR Magnum (Didn’t buy it for me, long story).

What I like about the Arsenal platforms is the finish is not jagged in any way. Throw one in a bag, strap it to a pack, it’s not gonna tear your gear up with only minor consideration and effort. They are the least bulky of platforms and pretty darn lightweight for what you get.

What I don’t like is that the platform is more difficult to get solid than others I have.

I set up the RZR Magnum this afternoon with a cam strap, next to my Fix and went back and forth between them for quite awhile. The biggest impression I was left with is how steady the Fix is…it’s like concrete underfoot. And I didn’t fiddle at all to set it like I did the RZR Magnum. I was about equally comfortable with my stance on either, and surprised that the wider RZR Magnum was’t the clear winner. Maybe it held a slight slight edge there, but I couldn’t really describe anything discernible. I was also surprised that I could turn almost as well on the RZR Magnum as the Fix. But while I was able to use the extra platform width of the RZR Magnum to make the turn pretty effectively, the rigidity of the Fix definitely gave me more confidence making that move and it’s extra depth is perhaps a bit more intuitive when so doing. (I was wearing Muck Boots throughout).

If I didn’t have Gen1 I’d be more willing to ride this out, but I do. I’m not thrilled Arsenal isn’t offering any retrofit to gen1 platforms, and now the platforms are heavier than advertised and late on delivery and there’s been little in the way of actual product demonstration.

I’m not hung up on the shipping delay. I’m not even that hung up on the misrepresented weight, but it’s extremely disappointing. I guess my confidence has just wained to the whole of the thing. I’m sure there will be many many many satisfied customers, but for me, the shine is off on Hunt Arsenal.

Shine is off the apple for me, just really disappointed in the level of customer experience I’ve had in my purchases. I’m not going to cancel my order, at this point it ships when it ships. I’m primarily not cancelling so I can weight it myself and compare it on a tree to what I have, I’ll share the results on the board here when/if I get it even though I’m aware most folks aren’t interested in compared anything to Tethred.

I’m the weird optimist that hopes I get one that comes in at advertised weight and is rock solid on the tree and easy to attach. I feel like they’re trying to do something innovative, I like that. My experience with them as a business isn’t good, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been great for other people. Ideally I’d like companies to be great at both but product quality as advertised is probably most important for me.
