Attachment to gear

Also funny because I started this thread as a way to hopefully take a step towards gear “health and recovery” lol. Maybe I was fooling myself the whole time. Hah!

Or maybe you're learning it's not as bad as you thought??

Downsizing rocks! Jumping up to the pulpit here it's really liberating to ditch items I have been attached to and holding on to and then realize that I didn't really need them after all once they are gone.

All of us hunters are gonna have more crap laying around than the normies but it's really awesome getting down to the items you DO need instead of holding on to every little thing that you MIGHT need one day.

I sold close to $10k worth of random gear, optics, clothes and guns last year that was just sitting around taking up space in my house and in my brain and haven't missed a single one of them yet.

I wish I could do this. I often start to purge and then think"What if one of my son's wants that in 10 years, or needs a rifle then? wil I have enought cash at that point in my life to buy him one? Or am I better holding onto some of this stuff until then?" I know its a fine line, but I think many parents may feel the same way.

Some things I have let go of I generally don’t miss and it does feel good. Other times not so much and sellers remorse kicks in. This has only happened a couple times thankfully though.

I have the same thoughts about my kids. But they’re only 2 and 4 right now so I have a ways to go. Still working on my 4 year old to get him interested in hunting. Don’t know if it’s really sticking yet or not.
