Beast sticks

You can get all thread and a threaded knob at pretty much any hardware store. Tractor supply, Lowe's, home depot, etc...

I'm going to build an aluminum one on the lathe here in a little bit.

What is the total length rod that you need. I am awaiting my stealth strips before assembling mine, but I like your idea. Would be nice to get that in a nylon bolt if you could find one that long.

I turned one out of aluminum this evening, for 4 sticks it was around 8 inches overall but I can double check. Heck I'll just post some pics in a bit, I also made a plastic nut for it. Now its quieter and easy to get on and off.

Been meaning to do a write up comparison between Tethrd mini versa straps and amsteel rope mod on the beast sticks. I know I told a few folks earlier in this week in this thread I would get around to it yesterday but I just got busier than expected. Wondering if people would appreciate a video comparison better, can show the pros and cons a little better and let people decide for themselves what is going to work best for them? I’ve done a few other mods people might like; credit goes to DIY Sportsman, G2 Outdoors, Hunting Beast, NutterBuster, and Mark Dohring; ideas all came from those folks, I just combined a lot of their ideas to mod my sticks and a lot of my other gear.

I also have some ideas in the works for a carry method that functions similar to the old LW Stick Caddy for climbing with the sticks accessible but not dangling from the saddle like many folks do. And have a few other little mods to my other gear that I’ve never seen on YouTube before, they’re nothing amazing but maybe could help a few guys out.

Below is some pics of how I currently have my beast sticks setup. They are still a work in progress, but I like them alot from what little testing and experience I have with them so far.

If anyone would benefit from a video version comparison of the new Tethrd mini versas vs the amsteel rope mod lmk. If people really want to see videos maybe I’ll make a few other videos about my other mods as well. Otherwise I’ll just stick with a little write up with pictures.

Here ya go @cspot started as a piece of 1" round stock 6061 aluminum, left an end for a stop and turned down 8 1/4 inches to 3/8" and put 3/8"-16 threads on the end. The uhmw was 1 1/2" diameter, cut 1 inch tall. turned part of it down to 1" and put 3/8"-16 threads in it. Gonna stealth strip, vet wrap, plastidip the aluminum rod, just ain't decided which route yet.Screenshot_20191019-185246_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20191019-185242_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20191019-185239_Gallery.jpg

I'd love to see the videos. I'm trying to soak up all I can until I get my saddle. Should be any day now.

Looks great, the only issue I see is not being able to cover the threads for dampening. I don't have a steady hand, I would probably hit the thread off of every stick going through lol.

I think the threaded rod is rod is really cool, but the way beast sticks lock together I’m not getting any movement at all out of them w/ just nested together & one stock strap lashing them together. That said now that I use them more, I’m wondering if I may get away from versastraps & go back to stock straps ....... I definitely like the peace of mind of knowing I’m not risking knocking a stick loose with stock buckle. Just thinking out loud , I’ll keep tinkering. Not an issue on most trees, but I can see wet or cold beech trees being difficult! Just seeing a bit of mishap info lately related to knocking sticks out. I think it’s familiarity based most likely, but wonder if it’s an extra risk I want in my kit?????

I only made It because i use my linesman belt as a strap to carry them in the woods. Using the rod i dont have to take a strap off and my linemans off to start putting them on the tree. Also i use the stock cam buckles, I've used rope mods and the daisy chain webbing that DanO sold from dutchware last year and I just prefer how much more solid any sticks are with the cam buckle. This way I can keep the strap on each stick neatly and pack in and out easily. A long nite ize gear tie would work good too, as good as they pack together, I just needed something solid and decided to try this.

I'm using the versa straps on mine as well and when I set the stick I can't get it to move? I try hitting it on the side and and wiggling it hard and it won't move. When I use the versa straps, if it is in between the daisy I turn the stick sideways and put it on the one that would make it tighter. That way there isn't much slack. If it lines up I use that one. I make sure it is seated good though before I get on it.

I have versa straps and am also thinking about going back to regular straps. I do however hate the black straps on the new beast sticks. The don’t fit well under the button

Agree w/ all of the above, just wondering if the trade off is worth it to me....

I noticed that as well..... I’m considering just using an original versastrap on my bottom stick. I think it’s really unlikely that I’d bump it or kick it out.... but once you get above the first one going w/buckle strap. My favorites are the original lonewolf straps

It seems to only be a little problem for me if the stick gets knocked up at all.
On one hunt pulling up my bow in the dark bumped one step up, and on another occasion something else bumped the stick up. I will probably finish this year with the versas, but will go back to my stealth covered buckles going forward.
Having said that, On my second year with these 5 Beast Sticks. They are the bomb. One of the best investments I've made.

I'm back with cam buckles for this same reason. Knocked one my sticks off pulling up my muzzy. Not good. Had to get creative getting down.

Put the end of the tube flat on a table, counter, floor, just something solid. Put the cap on the top and tap with a rubber mallet
