Best hunting knife

I am not big into knives I've never even heard of half of the knives you guys are talking about. I have an outdoor edge swingblade and I love it I've skinned and quartered 8 deer in the last 2 years with it without sharpening it.

I’m glad you have had good luck with yours. Mine is not the best! Hard to sharpen and does not hold an edge.

So I ended up buying a mora pro. And two buck 110’s. One with stainless 420hc and the other 5160cs blades.

The Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter off of camofire is a good deal. Rainer Knives Fastpak is fantastic for $100. Knives of Alaska and a few Benchmades are a good value as well. Civilware can be good.
I can keep going. Knives are like shoes and you need to pick your style.

I picked up a Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter this past Friday....a belated Xmas prezzie to myself to celebrate the last day of 2021! Been hankering after one of these for some time. Can't wait to try it out on big game in 2022!

S90VN steel....so should hold an edge forever, but might be a bit tedious to sharpen when it needs it.

Hello....my name is tarafrost and I'm a KA (knife addict).
It has been 2 days since I last purchased a new knife.
I hope to start step one of my 12-step KA program soon.

LOL

For the past 6 or 7 years I have been using a Case Trapper in high carbon steel. For my needs it is perfect. The Spey blade is ideal for skinning. I found that the rounded point goes under the skin and rides along the muscle underneath without cutting the meat. I can just put that blade between the meat and hide and just "unzip" the hide in one quick, clean motion. I then use the clip point blade to do the quartering.

I can quarter and pack a doe out in 20 minutes in the dark with just this knife and a hat mounted light. The high carbon steel is very sharp and holds up well. High carbon steel is prone to rusting and discoloration, but I scrub the knife in hot water when I get home, then dunk the whole knife in near boiling water with Ballistol added. The Ballistol is a water-soluble oil that stays on the metal when hot water evaporates. I then touch up the blade and lightly coat it in oil and its good as new.

This knife has quartered about 40 deer so far between my own and some for friends.

Any time I spend more than 25-30 bucks on a knife I lose it in a year or so... meanwhile I've got like 3 Kersaws sitting around that are easy to use and easy to sharpen.... and just like cheap shades.... it's IMPOSSIBLE to lose a cheap knife
