Blizzard Hunting

Yep. My plan was to drive and hunt one spot I like that was't in the path of the storm. But that wasn't possible.

I love your story, I've had a few hunts like that. A cat actually cost me a buck once, not too fond of them now. But there's a local legend about a cat that brought one hunter great fortune. I probably shouldn't tell that one...it convinced me that cats must really have 9 lives.
Thanks for the upvote lol.
There are two houses on our long country road with “pet” unfixed females that are turning freakishly large ferals out like the Wonka Factory this year. It’s not a weekday if you don’t see a dead one on your way to drop the kids off at school. I see them at least half of my hunts this year, and I skit-skat them every time. Kills my no-noise policy.
Back on topic, we had an unseasonably cold winter in DE around 2013/14 and I drove over an hour to my hunting spot at 4am to be in a tree by 6 and wouldn’t you know my nose hairs crystallized while I stood in the parking lot checking the map? Got RIGHT back in the truck, went to the ChesDel diner (9/10 recommend during hunting season) and crushed hot coffee until 8:30 when I walked back outside, felt my eye liquids freezing, and finally said £**k it and drove another hour home.
Cold like that don’t like to be messed with.

Well, Genesee county was a letdown. I only got about 5 inches at my house. Sat till 1pm today saw bunch doe and fawns. Not a lot shooting today, and i border state land. Sunday is forecasted for Gale force winds. It'll be a good day to sleep in and watch the Bills.

13 degrees, 10-15 mph winds, full Sun and my cold fingers may have cost me an opportunity at a bruiser this morning
I feel like my 3YO daughter with this snot luge forming over my mustache

Update, Saw a lot of deer, went real deep on day one and got into unpressured deer, passed on a few little bucks. Goofed up and missed a decent buck, nobody to blame but myself on that one. One of my hunting buddies shot a real nice 8pt (wide and heavy) while we were bumping down different sides of a benchy hemlock bedding area.

Also, bucks were chasing hard this weekend, even in the heavy snowfall. Tracked a couple bucks that were absolutely doe crazy. Watched a couple other little bucks chase does around.

I really enjoy the blizzard hunting, although there was not as much in this area as buffalo received. I'm sitting at my desk at work thinking about taking Wednesday off and heading back up after my chapped lips, wind burnt nose, chafing, and sore muscles are back to normal. Some of the hills in the area we hunt remind me of being on elk hunts out west.... but with more oxygen
