Dont know who was doing the filming, but she's a good one....denying her sister and suffering through the skeeters!
She's a good'un. Don't know how the hell I tricked her into shackin'-up with me.

Have you guys ever seen or heard of anyone doing this with a power drill? Or would it be too loud
Also, what hand drill are you using?[/QUOTE
Pre-setting trees in the pre-season is so fast and easy with the cordless, you'll want to set every tree on the property.

Did you already post a picture of this?I have a molle pouch with my bolts, drill, and platform setup that I put on my sternum strap of my backpack when leaving the house/truck.I pull them out as I go up and just throw them in on the way down. so simple a streamlined.if I am hunting with a different pack, or no pack I can throw it in my cargo pockets, put it on my fanny pack waste belt, whatever.
No. I will tonight!Did you already post a picture of this?
Love bolts too, I take out bottom 4 or 5 and cover with leaves so I can climb back up quickly if hunting more than once, also people never look up to see anything in a tree if not eye level usually, invisible method.
Yep. You may be a couple minutes slower on the first climb up but you will crush any other method on the way down and every subsequent climb@SH4896, watch Boswell's video with him using sticks. Even on a 30ft climb, I'm not that far behind most guys' setup time. Yes, it's slower, but not by much.
For where and how I hunt, it's absolutely worth it. I can carry my whole rig, never even use it (stalk hogs the whole time, for example) and not be put out. No terrain is too thick, and no walk in is too far.
I don't consider it an undue amount of work. The tree I'm drilling is a tough hickory, and it's still a piece of cake. Poplars, bays, maples, etc are all even easier and quicker.
Also, once a tree is drilled, it's good for the season. Then it becomes bar-none the fastest way up a tree.
It's definitely not for everybody. And I still have spurs and stepps. But I don't know that I'll ever set a stick again.
Be careful leaving them in the woods at the base of the tree. One cold morning you're going to go out to climb up a tree and your bolts are going to have a pound of frozen leaves and forest floor stuck to them.Love bolts too, I take out bottom 4 or 5 and cover with leaves so I can climb back up quickly if hunting more than once, also people never look up to see anything in a tree if not eye level usually, invisible method.
I use an 18v ryobi. It's a little over 3.5 lbs with the 3-4 tree battery and about 4.3 lbs with the 8-10 tree battery. You can drill reasonably quiet if you wrap it and keep the RPMs low. That being said, I usually just man up and use the hand drill. It's not that hard.Mines an EZ Kut. I've got an 18v Hitachi that will drill a hole in 13 seconds vs my average of about 30. It's noisy and 4.5lbs though, so I've never used it outside of testing it in my yard.
It's bama-fan simple.
Roll tideGotta love climbing in Croc's like a true southern boy!
Are the bolts dangerous at all in everyone’s opinion? I’ve read in other thread other people mention they can be dangerous if you slip.
Man, this does look pretty sweet, I've got some private that I can hunt up in PA, I honestly always thought it was bad for the tree's but after hearing @WHW who can certainly speak from experience, lol I think I might have to give it a try.
Which drill do you guys prefer? EZ Kut is about 60 bucks, I just looked, but after watching the video, do you really have to bang it onto your palm to get the drill bit out? I don't think I would want to make that much noise.
I know it looks like a bang, but it's just not. I tried the casing open on mine so I don't have to use the Paracord loop. Also silenced it with washers and stealth strips. It's a sneaky little toy now.Man, this does look pretty sweet, I've got some private that I can hunt up in PA, I honestly always thought it was bad for the tree's but after hearing @WHW who can certainly speak from experience, lol I think I might have to give it a try.
