Bow Press DIY or Buy

I have a speciality archery pro press. It wasnt cheap but I've never once had a bow shop work on my bows. Started shooting three or four years ago now. I do everything myself with the exception of building strings. I say spend the money on a real press. Just my opinion.

I don't see any splinters. It is shooting, groupings 1/2" to left with no elevation change. I don't think the sight moved. I one pin adjusted to center at 26 yd. Don.t feel any different vibration or here noise. QAD rest is not returning to center at full draw. If it was not deer season I would sent it to you. May work something out later.
1/2" at what distance? That doesn't sound too bad.

1/2 out at 10 yds. I went to the range where I could shoot out to 30. It was way off. 10" + or so. I shoot 3" groups at 26 normally dorp one or two on occasion. The rest was tight don't believe it moved. Started ajusting to see if I could bring it back in. It is good enough to hunt with, but it is not perfect. The bow hit on the lower cam. I had to dig the dirt out of it. The cam or pin is bent I can't tell which one.

Yeah, I'd take that one to somebody. Bows are tough, but that's a good fall. If your POI has changed and your rest and sight havent moved, something is broken.

You said it. As long as you don't need to remove a limb for some reason, that'll do everything really.
Fwiw I did limbs on an allegiance with the bowmaster press. Cut the t handle out and use a socket wrench. Run the bolt way down through the body and use the widest cable setting you can. Worked great for me.

Got an apple archery press new for like $150 bucks last year. It's slow with the hydraulic jack but does well also

I've looked at going this route a few times. May just have to pull the trigger this time. Thanks!

Refreshing this for anyone who's looking to send a link to your spouse for late Christmas gift ideas--the bench model is still just $30 at the link above. Just picked one up for me and one for my dad. If you have C-clamps, you can substitute those for screwing into your work bench, making it a bit easier to put up and take down when you don't need it.

I bought the free standing model and it was a great purchase! Bulky, but I love that I can work all the way around the bow.

I use a bowmaster for changing strings, basic tuning, and peep install. It is slow but works fine. I tried to make a press following multiple, careful instructions to make one from a pipe clamp. It was a disaster. It got on a bind once compressed and would not unscrew. I barely got my bow out without damaging it. Going forward, a press is one thing that is off my DIY list.

I started with portable press, thought about building one, just didn’t have the time for r want to deal with the fiddle factor.. bought an easy green. Decent fingers for a home made press was the main issue.
