Bullman steps

Keep the Bullmans. I have my full 205 pounds exerting side pressure in this pic.
OCBs make that much of a difference? I'm impressed. I'm keeping the 2 steps but going to use them to get me an extra few feet from the ground. I'm getting a set of cranford steps, guy at work bought a bulk pack of them and I'll get some cheap. Problem solved.

What strap? Or method? What can he do to get similar results?

That is DanO's olive drab OCB strap from Eastern Woods Outdoors. The steps I climb with I don't have to get quite as tight. But for my ring of steps at the top I make sure to really get that one tight and I can put side pressure on those all day.

Having a great experience using the bullman steps to climb and totally solid as ROS on DanOs OCB and strap setup.

I just bought another 6 ameristeps (total of 12 now) and I think that's going to be my climbing method from here on out. This AM I used 6 steps and 2 heliums to get to 20'. The steps are money. I'm sure the bullmans are very similar.

I have some for sale if you are interested

What am I missing with these steps, I bought the two pack to use as footrests/step around the tree. I've tightened the piss out of the straps and even used an old tree strap from a safety harness, no matter what, they roll over if I step on the sides.
I do not see anyway the strap will keep them in place, I may have to screw in some...sheet metal type screws like cleats to keep them gripping right into the tree. Worst case, I just get two cranford steps.

If you want to use them for a ROS platform you will either have to get a really strong ratchet or the OCB from DanO.

I personally use the Bullman ROS and love it. I switched over to the OCB strap and it gets them plenty tight enough for my 250 lbs.
