Calling All Ameristep Users!

Yup I agree ROS guys don't have options really, that's probably the biggest reason I went to a platform was bulk of ameri-steps.

That is a good point as well. I found that carrying 5 steps is more of a task than carrying 1 platform. Handing the steps is more of a hassle than just the predator.

I am liking my platform more and more each time I use it.

So I cut the wings off an ameristep. They definitely help prevent twist when side loading, but removing them makes them a good bit more compact. 1.25" vs 2" wide, and they stack, which makes them quieter. You could slip an elastic band around them and they would make 0 noise I think. No rattle.

@Vtbow, do you think if I left a bottle of cava and a jazz CD in the box with my buck steps I could have some by Thanksgiving?

Hope it was a recalled ameristep...

Probably have better luck with a Phil Collins album and a bottle of Woodford. ;)

I have a bottle of woodford reserve I would donate to the cause. It’s too expensive to mix and I didn’t like it. It just stares at me when I open the cabinet.

WHAAAAAA Didn't like it????
Well now all we have to do is track down some Phil Collins. On a hunting site that may be tough-- though I can picture @huck72412 jammin' out to some Phil in the big brown truck.

Woodford is rather...insipid, to my taste.

I've been told however that drinking homemade Welch's Wine over ice means my opinion doesn't matter...

Nah, just makes you thrifty. I make my own hard cider that doubles as paint thinner and remover for the same reason--everything is better when it is cheap and has multiple purposes. Take a sip, put some on a rage, remove some paint, repeat.

But I digress...

Anyone recognize these? 11 of them on the way.

I have some of them. I think @Nutterbuster sold me a single one of those too.
Not sure how I like them. Havent put them on a heavier strap yet. The nice thing is the cutout at the heel would accomodate a second strap lower on the tree and at that point they would be bomber!

They are actually the steps I was on in @donnieballgame's video. That was the first time I put them on a tree lol. I'm just so partial to my golden bucks because they pack up so small. I think I noticed a little more rocking side to side on these but I wouldn't judge them until I've put them on a few more trees.

Ok, tried to dye the Delrin with black RIT dye. That didn’t work very well but at least the steps are no longer bright white. Added an OCM buckle with 5 steps that gets them tight enough for them to not move on the tree. These pack down very well.
