Camera’s Stolen & Airtags

@Silvio
There are 2 ways to deal with thieves. Thing is, once you choose a path, you must stay on that path to its' end. ;)

#1 is the "legal path". Call the cops, use the legal system and hope it all works out in your favor. :rolleyes:

#2 is taking matters into your own hands. This is best done on a solo mission, dark and quiet with a show of force. What happens happens and you live with it. :cool:

I’d wait until they show back up in the woods, and grab them. Or, you could always Knock on his door and call him to the table. Been there done that, most folks won’t call the cops after takin an ass whoopin when it was deserved.

Blast as much of his info you know all over social media or other outlets. He'll think twice when his employer and family members are asking why he steals.

This is actually not a bad idea, particularly if you were part of any hunting Facebook groups in your state.

And of course you can get his name simply by pulling up in front of his house and using onX.

While I agree theft is wrong and immoral, and getting robbed hurts the feels, I don't see the reasonable justification to spend thousands of tax dollars investigating and prosecuting the theft of cameras worth a couple hundred bucks. Follow the $ you usually find the answer. Sadly, that's what it boils down to. Our legal system ain't cheap.

Ahh yes. isn't that what they do in some cities now? theft under $x is not prosecuted. Pretty sure it's not working out for them the way they hoped.

Well, from law enforcements and prosecutor's perspectives, if they have limited time, energy and budgets to spend to solve one case over another, they are going to put that time and energy into things like violent crimes against people and people preying on children, etc. When you have seen all the nasty stuff people do to one another you most likely don't get too worked up over property theft crimes. Getting your stuff stolen stinks but you can see how it would rate pretty low on the priorities list for police and prosecutors.

Well again I don’t want to waste my time on this guy but I don’t like the fact he can rub it in my face everyday by letting the camera take pictures of his garage door going up and down..I was told by this police officer yesterday should I retaliate I would put myself in trouble…back in the old days we took care of guys like this our own way…but attorneys the scum of the earth in my opinion have changed issues to wrong is right and right is wrong

The theft of your cameras is definitely wrong and inexcusable.

were the cameras in public land? If so, what state are you in and what does that states laws say about leaving personal property unattended on public? I can’t get on the bandwagon of talking smack about law enforcement and governments unwillingness to help retrieve personal property IF the written law doesn’t support your claim. The last thing any of us want is for government and law enforcement to make up the rules as they sit fit.

it would take a fair amount of effort to repeal the law declaring personal items left on public are considered abandoned. But it would not take allot of effort to propose and pass an amendment stating: all personal property found on public land is to be reported to authorities and is to be left undisturbed.

regardless friends, enough with the talk about vigilante justice through acts of violence. It stinks that personal gear was stolen, but work to make the world better through positive and healthy actions. Even if you’re just “joking” out of frustration, you are committing these ideas to written text, available and easily searchable by the public. Our children read this stuff.

I would at the very least pay the man a visit and make his family aware of what he did. I hate a thief and know what would’ve already happened to this guy and only he and I would have known.

I did knock on his door within 3 hours to confront him, no answer. I called the police attempted to make a report…that failed twice in the span of two days…again it’s a hot potato law enforcement doesn’t want to pursue. I’m not going to knock on his door again ever…let’s drop the thoughts and move on….I’m going to finish with this thought for all of you to ponder…you know the old saying “good guys finish last” that’s because society has taken manhood away from righteous men. I’m not afraid to confront this individual but should he ever push me or get in my grill he’s going to meet old man strength…that’s a fact the hell with being nice to a thief…try and reason with a thief see how far you get until he commits a bigger crime…how’s those apples
