Camping hammock?

You will be shocked at how cold nylon with a little breeze under it will get.....its like your own personal A/C unit

Pro Tip: if it’s really hot and there’s no breeze, hang a battery operated fan under your hammock.

I love my warbonnet blackbird sleeps really nice, I have used it for years now and packs light along with a down underquilt and top quilt, homemade along with a silnylon tarp again home made, i keep meaning to try doing a blackbird clone in matching material, regards wayne

never thought about that.

Well this covoid quarantine is getting expensive... I just ordered a Hennessey expedition for my son's birthday present. I never thought bout this until I stumbled across this thread. He likes to camp with his friends so this is a perfect fit. I am kind of excited for him.

Just went and checked again on price.. you got the 25% off right. Makes it a pretty good deal!

Another for the warbonnet blackbird. And he makes great tarps and under and top quilts.

I looked long and hard at the blackbird before I finally decided to just make my own. Nothing against the blackbird make me not buy it, I just like making my own stuff.

ive been intrigued about hammocks for awhile, my main question. is it cooler in the summer months than a mesh ground tent

This is my setup. When it's warm I will tie the 'wings' of the tarp up higher so more air can flow through. If it's cool and/or rainy & windy, I will put the wings down lower so less air blows through. I've used it in 40* temp without an underquilt - it wasn't fun but it can be done, and I've used it in 70+ degree night temps. I would take the hammock over a tent in warm sleeping conditions every time.

Any chance you have a rain fly or sm nylon tarp for this??
Not yet - was waiting to see if these were going to be popular and worth stocking. Now that spring has sprung and summer is on the way, looks like I might need to get going on adding those items too. Maybe a SaddleHunter member wants to make these for me??

I’m about to order a few DanO stimulus items & thought I’d ask.........

Warbonnet makes and sells them. There’s probably a bunch of used for sale on the hammock forums. And there’s some half decent silnylon tarps on amazon. Hammock forums is like here. There’s a wealth of knowledge on there. And on YouTube shugemery is great. He has tons of good info. It’s a new rabbit hole I’m telling ya.

Check out Bushcraft Outfitters as well - definitely not trying to steal business from DanO, but if he doesn't want to invest in tarps, BCO is a good 'Made in USA' source for this type of stuff. That is where the tarp in my previous post came from. Again - zero affiliation with them, just a satisfied prior customer of theirs.

I broke down and bought 1 from ya couple days ago.... looking forward to it.....gotta be a step up from my cheap junky 1s. Thanks for the pictures

Put a ridgline on it first thing.

Lay out the hammock and measure it’s length. Tie a string 83% of that length from gathered end to gathered end. Enjoy.
