Can a saddle be too big?

Alright, absolute rookie with zero saddle experience, just ordered a few paychecks worth of gear but am wondering if I got the wrong size saddle (Covert Lite). Went with the larger one on their recommendation, but then ran across some comments that they sized them with bulky clothes in mind...wondering if there will even be an issue here, but curious to know if too big of a saddle can cause the same problems as too small (hip pinch, less safe, etc.). Any real life experience with in-betweeners is much appreciated!

You will probably find a bigger saddle even more comfortable once in a tree.
If you like to wear your saddle to the tree, you may find it irritating if it’s too large.
But this is specific to each saddle build and each person. I’m not familiar with the new TL covert lite.
Saddles are easy enough to just stick in a pack on the walk in.

I have a medium mantis. I kinda wish I'd gotten the large. I could tell when I tried my friends on and I didn't even sit in a tree.

I went by tethrd recommendations for someone 34 waist, athletic build, and I usually go for an athletic fit. I figured I'd size down.

The medium works for me, and I've often wondered if the larger saddle would be more comfy, but just be slightly more "bulky"...

@HappyChappy summed it up well.

Its hard to imagine that a saddle can be too big that its uncomfortable. It might be less functional because your range of movement is more limited. Some have claim that the feece saddles are the most comfortable (even with RCH which is a must!) but you give up range of movement. Same with the JX3. You can use a full size hammock honestly, just cant shoot with same range.

I don’t like a bigger saddle at all. I originally ordered an Aerohunter size 2 and felt it was so baggy. Zero chance of walking in with and it created a lot of wearied pressure points for me. I’m in a size 1 now and I find it much better fit. Best thing to do is go by the manufacturer recommended sizing.

I think so. I originally had a size 1 flex but swapped to a size 2 listening to this forum as the majority say it can’t be too big. But for me, I’m looking to go back to a size 1 flex as the 2 is too big for me

Thanks everyone for the replies. Now that I've had the chance to try the saddle on, I think it will work. I can adjust it all the down to fit with "early season" clothes, and will have room to layer on bulkier clothes for later season hunts (WI). I suspect the smaller size would be fine too, but probably need to spend some time hunting in it before I make any decisions.
