Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

Not sure if an effort has already been made. But I'm interested in acquiring turkey feathers. But I don't hunt turkey due to time, or lack of them anyway. But I know a few of you all do.

So who here turkey hunt but have no use for the feathers?

Anyone interested in making a few (very few in my case)$?

I'm sure other from the trad group would be interested too.

Nothing against 3Rivers or other stores. Just trying to see if I can source them myself from other in the forum if they are going to be discarded either way.

But FYI, Wild Fletching is a good company if you want to send your feathers in for trade or some spare cash too.

I always give mine to an old man makes arrows. I don’t bow hunt but I do have a couple of his arrows just for novelty. Would be happy to mail you some. He only uses primaries, which is what I assume you’d be wanting as well. I get to shoot four birds a year so I’ve typically got primaries off eight wings. Shoot me a message on here and I’ll mail you some in May.

I am very fortunate to have a couple guys that send me wings. I typically use left but keep a stash of right too. Most of the rights though I share with a buddy that builds primitive arrows and hunts with a selfbow.

I used to do it all the time. I have a grinder set up that I bought from a bow maker years ago. Still use it occasionally, I still have piles of feathers.

How many feathers are needed to be worth while? I cut the tail feathers off the bird from the fall. I don't think I saved any Wing feathers from it. But may have a few floating around from others and stuff I picked up walking around. Tired of moving them around the garage all ready. If anyone is interested I'll take a picture of what I got.

You want left or right wing?

Interested sir

Keep me posted. My first mount was home-made, with the neck, back skin and fan separated from the wings .... and then all the pieces parts tacked to the wall paneling so it looked like one spread.

It's awesome, in a 1970s kinda way, but sooner or later I will have to part with it, since I won't live forever ...
