check your phone cases for magnets

My marsupial gear Bino harness interferes with my onX and wrist compass. I have to extend my arm out to get the appropriate direction. You can reset the onX/phone compass by lying it flat in your palm, screen up, and rotate 3 times in clockwise and counterclockwise directions.

I thought these electronic thingy's worked by satellite? I've used ONX under heavy cloud cover and it was telling me I was where I wasn't.

I believe it wants a cell signal too for better location. Where I hunt cell service is weak or non-existent..gps uses satellites for sure but apps….hhmmm

This is why I always have at least one traditional compass on me.
Using a conventional compass, the magnets in my Cabelas glove mitts sent me in the wrong direction.
Yep, spent some time wandering around one morning until I realized the magnets in my pop top gloves were doing a number on my compass….went home an cut all the magnets out of all my gloves. Those tops can just flop around.

Wow ! That might explain why my gps on the Hunt Stand app has been acting weird at times. I work with MRI and have taken my phone into the scan room in my pockets on several occasions. I don't believe it affected my phone in any other adverse ways but my geo tracker has led me astray a few times this season.
