Climbing spikes

3.7 lbs. 20 ft. 30 ft. Whatever you want for the weight of a Kestrel and Geckos. Sounds pretty sweet. Too bad I wouldn't be able to use them in many places.

Best thing to do is talk to your CO. It depends on the area. Some COs don't mind at all. Some will ticket for doing damage with a climbing tree stand. Some places don't have COs. This eliminates any unpleasant surprises.

What's a CO? You mean game warden?

Good idea. If they don't mind, it sure would be a clean way to hike and climb.

You always have that chance. A lenient CO will also allow light pruning, not cutting. Bow hooks, not tree steps.

I'll have to find out who that person is.

Aluminum Climbrites with aluminum Pads
Was thinking about pulling the trigger on the climb rite aluminum spurs. Reading some of the reviews the one most common problem was that they are pretty dull and require a lot of sharpening. Anyone having issues with this? I realize most of the reviews are from arborists that heavily use and abuse them. Time in them for a hunter would be pretty limited.

Also what size gaff is everyone using the pole or tree?

Mine are pole gaffs but european might be a nice compromise between tree and pole.

I'm going to try pole gafts again soon. You comment on changing the spur angle has me thinking. I previously had to kick in the pole gafts rather than placing and weighting.

Do you have to tell them when you order what type of gaffs you want, or do they have to be ordered separate?

I bought mine with pole gaffs, but ordered the tree gaffs on the side. They are interchangeable.

Yeah, thanks I finally found them. I was entering them into the search but nothing would come up. Guess I wasn't hitting all the right key words.
