Climbing Spur Questions

I'm new to spurs this season. I went with tree gaffs and an actual Tree Squeeze. I feel very confident with the tree squeeze protecting me. I think it catches much quicker than just a linemans belt.
 
I absolutely hate reviving old threads, but do any of you know the legality of using spikes on public land in Alabama? I'm from St. Clair County, but currently stationed in South Carolina where we can use them on public. I'll be back home over Thanksgiving and wondering if I'll be able to use spikes while I'm home.
 
I was reading through a Facebook post the other day about the same topic. Someone I would trusts said they talked with the game warden and he said it was ok. As usual on Facebook there were opposing views. I haven’t found a rule about it in my little magazine this year. I’ve been climbing with my Geckos this year and they have been great.
