Climbing sticks..... preferred aider method?

2 step permanent strap aider attached to bottom step of cut down Lone Wolf sticks with 18 - 20 inch spacing. Can't really understand why anyone wants more than 2 steps because the limiting factor for aider use or stick is how high you can reach.

I'm planning to try a 2 or 3 step aider attached to my bottom stick this year, may eventually put a single step on each stick but haven't had a chance to try it yet & not sure I'd be comfortable with it.

I used 3 rope aiders on 3 full length lw sticks all last year. It worked out fine but the sticks were catching on to many branches walking in. Made 4 beast style sticks for this year. 2 step tubular webbing with 1/4" semi flexible tubing to hold steps open on bottom stick. Knaider for in between other sticks if needed. I like @Rickor cable tie idea to standoff the webbing aider so I will give that a try.

Trav let me know how it works for you. I used a 5/16th wide tie wrap and its working and holding up.

I find the 3 step aider gets me fairly high on one move . As a one stick aider I don’t build up a sweat by fishing my toe for a slightly high step. The Orange aider is a overbuilt version by @Razorbak66 that fits a shikar nice and snug. I keep spacing under 15” unless you have one for early season and another for layers/ cold weather .
I have a cable aider on my EWO / which now has a UP, it packs well but requires more moves to advance to height.

So far in my off season testing…… I prefer the Backwoods mobile gear adjustable Versa Aider. It feels good on the foot and I like the way it pops off the versa button as you climb. Gets me an extra 20” or so per step.

I am going to try the wire aiders on each stick next to see how I like those against the Versa Aider.

I made one inch tubular webbing aiders for my lone wolf double steps. Three 14" steps for the first one and one 14" for the rest. I use fiberglass electric fence posts (3/8") as step stiffeners and it's almost like a ladder.

I use the cable aiders on my 18" Beast sticks. I don't have to "find them" in the dark when I'm coming down.

I also use the cable aiders on my 24" beast sticks. Agreed they are nice and are easy to find when coming down. They also don't blow in the wind like nylon strap or amsteel aiders.

I just bought the ultim-aider from ewo. I really like it so far. It attaches to the step so it stays away from the tree and it’s easy to get boot in. Two on my bottom stick, one one my second stick. Gets me close to 17’ with 3 standard beast sticks.
