Go with what suits your budget. It's easy enough to calculate how high you can get with step distance, aiders, number of sticks, etc.

You can drop a chunk of a paycheck these days sticks that are <5lbs, but sticks are still a PITA because you have to deal with toting something that's bulky, cumbersome, and generally not fun to deploy then pack up after a climb.

Climbing sticks will always be the weak link in a saddle system.

In my opinion the trophyline/novix double steps seem to be the best "budget" stick and the beast sticks or Eastern Woods Outdoors are the best "high end" stick. People like the shikar and lcwg sticks as well though I don't have any personal experience with them. I hear the skeletors may be good, and there's people buying the tethrd one sticks again even though they've been recalled over and over, but can't weight in as I'll never buy a tethered product again unless their safety/recall record drastically changes.

In a 20" step, the Shikar, LWCG and Beast are the ones that I know of. There may be others.

I forgot, the only one I know of also in a 24".

Timber Ninja has 20" sticks and 24"

Yeah I can see where they are the weak link. I have also noticed it could take a chunk of a paycheck if you go with high dollar stuff

I 100% agree to many recalls. I do like both the ewo and beast so far.

You also need to think about how you plan to carry them in.....

I put a lot of stock into this statement. Building a harmonious system is imo critical to efficient hunting.

I kind of favor the fold flat designs (LWCG compact sticks, Shikars, Gary Blevins LW mod), especially when paired with stands.

But I have lightweight double step options that works fine with my frame pack.

Api or hawk....save ur money. All the sticks are pretty much the same

I respectfully disagree. Are all saddles pretty much the same? I 've tied a bunch of sticks; LWCG, Tethrd (Gen 1), LW, API, Hawk, Muddy and Beast Sticks and there is a considerable difference in sticks. Differences in important areas; how they pack, how they grip a tree, range of tree sizes, weight, durability, distance from tree (to fit boot), ease of use, grip on wet boot.....

If money is not the primary concern I would go for Beast Sticks. They do not pack the best but excel in every other area.

If price sensitive, I like the Hawk 20".

Beast sticks seem to be the choice ewo seem to be out of stock on a part or two. So if anyone has some beast sticks let me know.

I have owned lone wolf original 3 step sticks, cut down lone wolf sticks to two step, LWCG folding step sticks, and beast minis. The beast minis are by far and away the best IME.

Edit: I should have said that the beast sticks are the best on the tree by far. They just bite so well. The LWCG obviously packed smaller/thinner. To me the most important thing about CLIMBING sticks is how well they climb.

Get beasts and be done and over with it. If there was a better stick I'd be using it. Been rocking them 4 seasons now and theyre perfect in everyway

I wasn't willing to spend $100/stick for something I wasn't sure I was going to like...that said, I have the luxury of access to all the toys in a CNC shop and Waterjet some steps and standoff/cleats and built my own and have loved them so far. Went 20" length on a few, and 24" on a few. I prefer the 20s. I'd say if you weren't scared to spend money, go with the beast stick minis

They're a nice stick, but I wouldn't say they stack perfectly. I think they are pedestrian that way. I can see how the positives can negate the rather bulky, clumsy stacking though. Some other sticks that have less going on are as bad or worse.

I see this as the most common complaint, but Ive just never had an issue. Not through the worst thickets or mountain Laurel or anything. They stack inline which is infinitely better than offset, and theyre absolutely dead quiet stacking with SS's.

This Climbing stick question has been asked many times in multiple forums over the past 4 -5 years as new competitors have flooded the market. If you research this question, there are dozens of threads, and in every thread, Beast Sticks come out 1 or 2. In the past three years, I had 3 new saddles, 3 new bows, but the same set of Beast Sticks. I tried others, most recently the LWCG, which are nice, but it is hard to beat the Beast Sticks. If they packed better (tighter) they would be perfect. I am entering my 4th year with Beast Sticks being my primary, go-to sticks.

I'm hearing the new Tethrd Gen 2 sticks are worth a look. I was not impressed with the fist gen.

So I am in the market to buy some climbing sticks. Trying to figure out which ones to get I been eyeing the beast sticks. Any suggestions on sticks would be appreciated and pros and cons. I’m new to saddle hunting and not ready to try one sticking yet.
I finally put my money where my mouth is and bought some beasts. I don’t regret it at all.
