PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
As more and more institutions conduct radio collar studies on whitetail deer, it's becoming harder and harder to keep track of the new findings. For the geeks among us, let's build a place we can all keep bookmarked to refer to when we catch a moment here and there.
To make it easier to find and keep track on incoming information, PLEASE DO NOT POST anything but links to documents discussing collar studies. It can be an article discussing collar studies, an actual paper published on results of studies, podcasts discussing studies, videos visually demonstrating the information on a map, etc. If you'd like, post a synopsis of the information with the link. When it was published, who published it, which area the study was conducted, etc. Or just post the link. If you can, go back as close to the source as you can. IE, if an article references a past interview with somebody who does the study, try to find that interview. If in the interview they mention their research paper, try to find it.
Let's try to limit discussion on this thread. There are other places to discuss, how the study doesn't apply to your area, how the researcher obviously is forgetting a factor you deem important, how the results would look different if they were researching pressured buck, how the study proves/disproves your theory on how deer move or that other guy's theory on how deer move, etc.
I'll start.
This podcast is a couple of years old, but is a good intro to what collar studies reveal in Mississippi. It's hosted by Bronson Strickland and Steve Demarais, who conducted a 2 year study tracking 40 bucks, at Mississippi State.
