Competing with dog hunters

Don't know where you are at in Eastern NC, but if you are around Bladen Game lands go check out the Singletary and Breece Tract. No dog hunting allowed on it and there are some good deer there. I have also seen some big bears there.
There are some real good areas with no dog hunting allowed around Jordan and Harris lakes, same thing at Falls of the Nuese/Butner, all game lands.

I’m in Jacksonville. All the game lands allow dogs here, for the most part. I’ve pretty much secluded myself to hunting on Lejeune, but that has its own issues. Only thing that seems to help is walking deeper than the dog runners are willing to.

As already mentioned, talk to them. The ones around me know exactly where the deer bed in the dog hunting areas. They've been doing it for generations. Archery opens before gun, so I'll hunt those areas until they start with the dogs. It may not pay off this year, but maybe next year.
