Convince to stick with saddles

People don’t really talk about the commitment it takes to START saddle hunting. Even with all the videos and help we have on this site it isn’t simple. It takes a certain kind of person.
Thats true, with the advertising and gain in popularity since all of the hunting magazine articles, I expect there will be lots of almost new saddles for sale after this season. Saddle hunting has always been somewhat “niche” so “FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO HANG.... WE SALUTE YOU!!!!!!!”

I'm still on the fence. Had my setup for a few hunts last season. Kind of hated staring at the tree and having a tether in front of me. But I also think it had to do with the tiny Artisan mini platform. I got a Mission platform that I still need to get out and hunt with. Not giving up yet but also not selling my hang on. Honestly hunting from the ground is the simplest method. Just not so great in thick areas.

Brothers....is no one going to point out the fact that he lost 80lbs since last deer season??? That is way more important than what method you get on a tree. Congrats man, obviously whatever you are doing and the decisions you are making works for you! You're the ultimate proof to yourself that life is ever evolving, try everything and even when you're comfortable, never stop trying something new that might fit the situation better. That's what brought most of us to saddle hunting afterall (Well...that and John Eberhart).

Hmm...Just realized OP is giving up saddle life and sold his gear. Either way, hope he stick around, there is more that this forum community has to offer!
thanks for the shoutout. I definitely don't think saddle hunting is stupid or a dumb fad, there's a lot of things i like about it. Mainly being able to get into difficult trees and the stealth of being able to hide behind the tree. the stands that can do that are heavy as hell unfortunately. In the end, i still had tons of foot pain and just felt like i was constantly moving. On top of that i was constantly hitting buckles or sticks or my bow on something. Finally, while its all lightweight, its just a lot of stuff to carry in. I was carrying sticks on my pack, the dump pouches full of straps and ropes, my bow, and my platform. It was light, but high maintenance. With my climber, i can put the stand and my pack on my back, and just carry my bow. I like it like that. Im hoping with a new carrying system, it will be a lot easier than last year. Trying to slim down my clothing as well. Thanks for the help everyone, still looking for that first deer this year and have some leads on good bucks so im feeling pretty good about it this year.
