Coyotes... Shoot or pass?

Shooting a cat is a crime in my state unless strangely enough the cat belongs to you.
It's a crime here also. They're considered companion pets. Feral cats are not excluded. Just don't take pictures. :) My buddy that traps uses the federal cat meat he traps to stage other traps. Yotes and a lot of other critters love cat meat. Crazy that trappers can kill them with impunity, but the rest of society can be find $10k and up to a year in jail.

No feral cat problems where I live as far as I know. But think of it this way. If I saw your dog chasing deer should I shoot him even though he is a $1500 bird dog?

I live in a place where it is legal to run deer with dogs. With that being said, I still feel if you're running your dogs on my private land I have every right to shoot your dogs.

If your $1500 bird dog doesn't listen enough to not run off, you might have over paid by $1500.

Your dog ,not mine. I don't have a dog :tearsofjoy:

I shoot at every one I see. I’ve shot one and had deer walk right by it. I can’t stand them ! Only thing worse is the neighbors dogs

In 36 years of deer hunting never once let a coyote get past me in range unscathed
Never.
Will never ever let a shot opportunity on a coyote go untried. Most years when I hunted in IL shot more coyotes each year than deer or turkeys.

Had more than a few farmers whose land I hunted that also raised cattle that told me up front if I ever let an opportunity to kill a coyote go to waist I had better not let them find out about it.
Shot more coyotes than I can easily recount in the last 20 years alone because 18 of the last 20 turkey seasons I hunted in two states for a total of at least 14 days and fall turkey hunted as well and surprisingly shot way way more coyotes fall turkey than turkeys as I still only shoot toms or jakes. Where I hunt spring and fall turkeys it seems young coyotes are very easy to call into a turkey decoy.
