I know variations of this have been done. This is just another one. It gets the rope tight. But don't overdo it, or you could stress the metal hook. With the ratchet on a loop, it shortens the distance between steps. The hitch in the steps lets you move the steps, but they stay in place instead of sliding down the rope banging into each other.

I didn't like the hitch, so I used zip ties. They still let you move the steps down the rope, but they add enough friction to where they stay in place better. I could close the metal hook on that end, but the zip ties also help to keep twists out. It can still happen; it just lessens the chance.cranford platform 5 steps small with zips.JPG
