Cranford rope replacement

Who has replaced the factory ropes on the Cranford steps? What did you use? Reviews?

you can make a whoopie sling (that chinese finger trap) out of amsteel easily

if i recall, 2 spliced eyes with a whoopie slide thing in between would do it

i'd consider 1/8" amsteel instead of 7/64" because the 1/8" is signficantly easier for me at least to pass through itself.....either is plenty strong enough in this configuration

I tried the Amsteel whoopie. It did not work well for me, but you can try it.
My old Deer Me steps used hollow braid polypropylene in a whoopie. But it is not very strong. You can order new rope from Cranford.

i've played around with it, and with a short bury, i also found it didn't grab well.....i didn't try a longer buried section

but people sell amsteel whoopies, so i figured it was me not wanting to bury a long section (my fault)....maybe not though....
