Crossbow Hunting

That is one sweet bow. That bow should be pretty easy to keep the limbs off the tree when firing. It is so narrow and only opens 2.5 inches on a side when fired. You should be fine if you are 6 inches away from the tree. It has such a narrow profile. I got to shoot the tenpoint NXT and Nitro x at a show. They are super nice. Not sure how the crank will work in the tree though. Do you think that will be a problem?

I actually didn't get the crank. I am going to experiment with manually cocking it against the tree. I think it may not be so difficult..sort of like doing a seated row. I will let you know how it works out. I am still waiting for my first saddle to come in the mail so my learning curve into this upcoming season is going to be steep..fortunately I will now have an additional 9 weeks to add to my hunting season due to my archery tag. Admittedly, I have been a real "dub" for the past couple of seasons but this coming season I am putting a lot of effort into learning, scouting, prepping..it's gonna be a good year, I can feel it.

I hunted with a ravin r9 out of a saddle last year I also use a lone wolf platform. I think the narrow bow makes it a lot easier. With that said if I was to buy a new Xbox this year if would 100% be a new ten point I have 2 other ten points and love them. Ten points a lot better company than ravin.

I try cocking my crossbow up in the tree when I was using my Guido's web and it was very difficult. I hurt my back and since then I definitely will use a crank. You can try it and maybe it will be easier for you.

If things don’t work out then I will probably break down and buy the accudraw crank. In a perfect world I should only need to cock it once on the ground, pull it up to me and hang it until daylight, nock a bolt, and then thwap!! Wait a few minutes, take the profile picture I really want and then it’s off to tagging and dragging. It goes so perfect in my head.....

As somebody who has sold a LOT of crossbows, Tenpoint makes an awesome product. Their crank is bulletproof and easy to service. Very unobtrusive too. Definitely recommend it.

Hey, I'm looking to give away some crossbow broadheads to someone that would put them to good use. I've got a 3-pack of 100 grain Rage Hypodermic crossbow broadheads with 1 practice point. They're brand new. I opened the pack to look at the practice point, then put them in a drawer. My crossbow died, and I bought a bow instead. I'm not asking anything for them. I'll even ship them for free. Just don't want them to rust in a drawer. I didn't want to post publicly and hurt someone's feelings when they go to someone else, but I don't know anyone personally that could use them. So... PM me if you're interested. Thanks!

I'm all for a good deed, but I'd shoot those things in my bow! I talked with the reps for Rage and NAP, and they said the only difference between their "crossbow" and "bow" broadheads was packaging.

Seriously? I asked the guy at my local archery shop and he said the shock collars are stronger on crossbow heads to prevent premature activation due to the increased force of a crossbow launch. To be honest, he seemed to be pulling his info right out of his @$$. Well, hell... If the reps said so, who am I to argue? If they'll screw into my arrows, I'll shoot them. I was going to buy the same heads for my bow anyway. I appreciate the info and the honesty. You could have just said "I'll take them." Thank you!

As a former salesman, I can practically guarantee that's where his info came from! Some guys don't know how to say, "I don't know."

I've never shot rage, but I've interchanged G5 and NAP broadheads and never had an issue. I might reach out to Rage to be sure, but I honestly don't see how different collars make sense from a performance or manufacturing standpoint. They should open just fine.
