As a bigger dude, I'm torn right now between these two saddles. I've had the opportunity to use a regular Phantom and it definitely seems solid, aside from the size for me. But I also read nothing but good about the XC.

Has anyone used both? What are your thoughts? Which way would you go in my spot?

It might also be worth noting that I would be getting the Phantom XL used for about 75% of the price of a new Cruzr.

I’ve used the XC size 2 and the regular phantom, which would be comparable to a size 3 XC and the Phantom XL and in my opinion there’s no comparison there. XC is hands down way more comfortable than any tethrd saddle. As far as the “bargain”, there’s no bargain to be had in buying an uncomfortable saddle. You will just end up spending more in the long run when you have to sell the Phantom later and get a XC or something else….anything else.. You get the XC and you won’t need another. Just my .02

My daughters BF is a pretty big guy. He had a Kite but used a buddies phantom one hunt and thought it was more comfortable than his kite. He was going to order one but I convinced him to try a size 3 XC first. He ended up buying the XC and says it’s much more comfortable than the Phantom.

I’ve tried both and have to agree with most of the comments! CRUZR XC is more comfortable! Hard to pass up a great deal though! But is worth it in the long run if you’re not as comfortable?!

I’m a bigger guy 6’1” 240 and I used the phantom xl for two seasons and thought it was pretty good. Last season I purchased the cruzr archon to use with the phantom and ended up using the archon more. Purchased the xc size 3 this year and sat in it an hr then switched to the xl for an hr to see which one felt better and while the xl is comfortable the xc is a superior saddle imo. The expanding pleat is a huge bonus. Now the phantom xl has the comfort channels which provide different feels based on where u put ur bridge but the xc does the same thing by sliding ur bridge up and down on the bridge loops. Everyone has a different body shape and preference in what they like my suggestion would be to sit in both back to back and change all the setting and play with bridge length till you seperate one from the other. Or buy both

What is your climbing method? IME, choosing a “best saddle” is dependent on how it’s being used.

I’ve had both…. If you love hip pinch, get the Phantom. If you want all day comfort, go with the Cruzr.
