Curious: what type of saddle do the Eberhart guys use?

I feel like that father and son team are the ones that got most people interested. What type of saddle did they use before all the makers came out with the newer ones? What do they use now?

They use heavily modified andereson tree slings. If you listen to the podcast where we had John on he goes into great detail on his evolution in a saddle, or sling as he likes to call it :).

Modded anderson. Thinks he still uses it, hit also a modded kestrel, and I believe he has a mantis now as well.... he had pics and descriptions on here somewhere.

And Saddlehunter sounds like a bunch of cowboys hunting from horseback, to be honest.
Yes. The first time I saw the term "tree saddle", I thought some dude dragged a horse saddle up over a branch and was sitting on it. No joke.

Slinghunter.com is where all the
“Sling Blade” groupies hang out. Mmmhuh

And much saddle hunter prestige to the first person to do this, and kill a deer...

First time I ever heard of saddle hunting was from reading Chris Eberhart's book "Whitetail Access", a book that made a suggested reading list for hunters by Steven Rinella.

As already stated, John uses his modded Anderson sling with great success.

I actually reached out to Chris Eberhart on his personal blog/email called Bowhunting Wild Food after he inspired me with his story about saddle hunting on the road. Chris informed me he was still using his Trophyline Ambush saddle and had never heard of the Guido's Web, which I inquired if he used. To my knowledge, unless he has switched it up just lately, I think Chris still uses his Ambush saddle.

At the time, the only company I could find at all making any type of saddle type product was Guido's Web, and man I was champing at the bit to buy one or construct my own OneHair seat, which has now come to be called a "preacher's seat" on this forum. A buddy of mine actually constructed a OneHair seat and we were both planning on adopting that method since no real "saddles" were being made at the time. Trophyline had stopped producing tree saddles for about 4 years by the time we caught wind of it, and the only Trophyline saddles being sold online you could find were sporadic sales on Ebay of XL sized saddles for exorbitant prices (I couldn't seem to find one for less than ~$350-$400+).

Well, it was as if the saddle gods were listening to our plight, because all at the same time I found out about (can't remember the exact timeline, but it was pretty close together) both the New Tribe Aero Hunter (and the Evo) as well as this here fine forum of great people. I registered on SaddleHunter.com, bought an Aero Evo in the spring of 2015, and here I am today reminiscing, preparing for my next hunt from my own DIY SitDrag saddle I have stitched together, and I am a collector of saddles and saddle hunting gear now.

Thanks to the Eberharts and this community of likeminded hunters, I have come a long way!
