Cutting down 32" Leverage sticks

So they aren't discontinued? I had no luck finding Muddy Pro sticks at all last year. Even in the late summer and into hunting season. Also, I thought someone on here said they quit making them. Someone else said they may start making them again. Maybe it's just the seasonal thing they were referring to.

I spoke with a trusted retailer office staff for purchasing and they stated they would be back in stock mid spring/summer. Once i get a date i will post on here.

I believe MCDM is talking about the Muddys where others are talking about the leverage. Leverage sticks are no longer made. Muddys and Helium for that matter are seasonal

yup

I think the helium sticks are very similar to what the Leverage sticks were.

they're definitely very close cousins. The hawk's steps don't angle away from the tree like the leverage do, but that's about the only difference.

walked in to a spot last night to hang these up.. I am completely amazed at how quiet and quick I got up the tree. With these four sticks and the DaveT aider(Dave, may be the smartest DIY you've ever come up with), leaving them all at a comfortable step height, I can easily get to where my feet are 23 feet. That puts my head at around 29 feet. If I wanted, I could stretch out another 1.5-2 feet just by spacing the steps out a little more.

I am impressed. The more I use it, the easier it gets. I think I could hunt this set up in cold weather and not sweat too much hanging it.

Where can I see the DaveT aider?

it's basically a single aider you take up with you on every stick. I think it's one of the most simple, yet brilliant slight modifications to equipment i've used.

The red squirrel aider is also a great thing to have, but, I don't like how secure my toe has to be to the tree. When it flips out, it can take you for quite a ride. lol.

Does Dave's aider attach to your foot, or do you have to reach down to grab each time to relocate it to the next step?

I grab mine when I step up on the bottom step of my next step. I will make a video of me climbing with it in a few weeks.

I don't follow you. The only difference between the aider I posted and the one that Dave uses for his sticks is that mine is adjustable. I have been using the RS aider on sticks, instead of girth hitching it to the tree I just loop it over the top of the stick. What am I missing?

I don't see the difference as far as kicking out. All aiders will kick out if you have poor climbing technique. \
I can see advantages to both.
One is adjustable which is better
One is easier to attach. It is easier to put it on the stick instead of the tree.
Red's can certainly be put on a stick though

Perhaps he thinks it is safer because when it is on a tree the steps on the stick keep it off the tree so it is easier to insert your foot???

That said cut down heliums are great. Perfect length and a bit lighter than a muddy pro.

I will have to politely disagree that they're not the same. One is inline with the sticks, the other is not. I don't believe that you have to have "poor climbing technique" for something to kick out that is not in line with your step. Honestly, I have never had an aider that was in line with my steps kick out, and I have used them for quite some time, both single and double aiders.

There is no doubt that anything adjustable is almost always better than something that is not adjustable. I have not given up on it, especially for the stepp ladder steps. But, I don't like them nearly as much as I liked my sticks. I don't typically hunt too high (around 20').
