Howdy,

I’m sure this question has been asked about 600 times but I’m going to ask it again since maybe more people have trying it and can give more insight.

What is the best method for attaching a lone wolf stick to a tree? Daisy chain vs. whoopie sling vs. original rope mod? What is the pros and cons to each method?

Thanks for the help and information!!!!

“The Best” is personal.

This is my idea of best:

1.) Woven Daisy Chain; it’s light, silent, can be taken on and off one handed and it’s inexpensive.

2.) Rope; it’s quiet

3.) Whoopie Sling; try to climb a small tree and get back to me.

I’m not sure if it’s the “best” but I did an Amsteel daisy chain like I saw posted on here and it is certainly sweet! Way better than stock straps.

I made 1/8 amsteel daisy chains and really dont think there is a better option atleast for myself! Everyone has an opinion though and somthing else might work better for you! It all comes down to what you feel safe and confident with! But my daisy chains are 100% silient, super light, and crazy easy to use!

I just got done reading 13 pages of posts on the versalight straps. I recommend reading that thread if you have a few minutes.

I have the versalight straps for both my Lone wolf sticks and my Predator platform. All I can say is the quality is awesome, I have complete confidence in the Versalight strap and that is very important to me.

What rope/am steel are you using? What diameter?

I used 1/8 amsteel for the daisy chains. I did the rope mod 1st and my opinion is that the daisy chain is superior. Holds me fine at 250lbs.

For the daisy chain I use a pre fab strap that is factory woven

The rope I replaced was, I believe, 11 mm.

If you’re asking about what to use to make your own daisy chain then I would do like the guys above and use 1/8” amsteel.

I'm going to switch from a whoopie sling to a versa strap. I am currently running a whoopie sling on my stick and platform and I like how light it is but the whoopie sling can be a pain to tighten and even more of a pain to get it loose when I'm done. Versa straps are super light and easier in my opinion.

I haven’t been able to hunt with the 7/64 yet but I have tested it some on different trees in my yard and it doesn’t seem like it will be a problem. When you get it tight to the tree, it doesn’t move much so I don’t think wear will be a big problem. I would still advise checking it before each use tho.

1. Cam buckle, no movement, easier to put stick EXACTLY where you want it. Heavy, clunky even with stealth strips.
2. 1/4" amsteel, slight movement but not unsafe, light and no bulk, easier to do bigger trees with longer rope
3. Versa strap, still waiting on mine, but hoping they are even better than they amsteel!!
One thing on the lone wolf sticks that I have noticed, the standoffs don't bite the tree like some of the aftermarket ones (DanO's, for example, bite the tree and won't let go!!).
Doublesteps are the best thing to happen to LW sticks in quite awhile, in my opinion.

Is dan O the same guy that has the hunting beast? Does he also own double step?

Dan o is a different guy. He does have double steps. You're thinking of Dan Infalt, the hunting beast guy.

Oh yeah you’re right. Thanks for the information. Have you by change made a saddle platform with double step parts? That’s my next project.
