Das ILF set up - what weight?

After shooting my cheap Greatree takedown for a few months, I’ve decided to buy a Das ILF set up from 3Rivers.

My current bow is 40# and it’s very comfortable. I was debating on ordering 45 or 50# limbs with the new set up. I know I see a lot of posts recommending to go light; however, I was going to see what recommendations you all had.

28” DL
Will be hunting (assuming I continue to practice as much as I have been) whitetail, black bear, and hogs this next season.

I’d go 50#. Personally, the light thing is over rated. If you’re hunting, you aren’t shooting 3 dozen arrows.

Just shoot less arrows until you get stronger.

I would stay at 45 that way you can get really use to that weight and be consistent plus you can go up or down couple pounds. Jumping to 50 will be so so. You might be strong enough to pull it but your not gonna be consistent. DAS is a great bow I would recommend shooting it with a elevated rest and plunger that way you can really dial it in. Have had the original from Soza and my current one for the past 12 years and it’s still awesome. Longest bow I have kept in my stable out of hundreds of trad bows.
plus 45 will kill anything in North America all day long

If I were to pick up a 21" ILF riser what size and poundage limbs would you recommend for someone that would like to shoot around 42lbs at 27" draw length? I have been reading and hearing a lot about people going to to the longer risers like the WT 21, Hoyt Satori 21", the new DAS 21" in conjunction with 3 Rivers and The Push and TradLab. I'm thinking a longer riser allows a smoother draw especially for long DL archers but I would also think it would help a shorter draw archer with increasing their Draw Weight over time? What are you experienced Trad guys recommending about this? Not to steal the orignal OP's post. My apologies but I think it goes in line with his question.

Your still gonna pull the same weight regardless of riser length but longer risers tend to be smoother and unless your target shooting I would personally go with shortest set up (for hunting) which would be 62” for your draw length of 27” if you go for 21” You can go shorter to get to 60” or even 58”. Get a 40# limbs and tune it to weight of 42# you want. Most limbs or rated for a 17” riser so keep that in mind and also it depends what you want to spend for limbs. I personally would go 19” riser with some longs that would be 64” kinda a in between but for my hunting set ups I do 17” riser with short limbs that are 58” or my medium limbs 60” set up or my 17” long limbs 62” setup Plenty long enough for my 27.5” draw

Order is in. Ready to get it here.
Stuck with the 45 lb limbs, but upgraded to some carbons.
