Deer cart recommendations

I have the Hawk Crawler and one from Sportsman's Guide (along with the tow bar add on). I use the Sportsman's Guide one for hunting and the Hawk one for farm stuff, pushing bags of mulch or horse feed around. The problem with the Hawk cart is that it is so dang heavy and does not break down for transport or carry at all (in addition to the missing bolts and always flat tires). The Sportsman's Guide one, folded flat, I attach a rope to it and at 30 lbs, I can throw it over my shoulder and hike into wherever the deer is, then set it up and pull it out, using the rope to aid in that.

So much easier to keep this one in the back of the truck too.

Hawk is great but could be better if it had a brake. Tacking that thing like a sailboat down a hill with 200+ pounds can be tricky. Also, don't run it along any creek or river trails that have an incline... If that's the only route make sure you have a boot dryer
Odd digression... have you ever watched dogsledders? They keep a large hook on their sled as an anchor to hold it if they have to stop to tend the dogs or whatever. Looks like an 18" treble hook with one hook cut off, set it on the ground and stomp it in. I wonder if an emergency drag hook might be easier than trying to rig a brake to the 4 wheels.

My thoughts exactly.

Pack it out. I have a cart and rarely use it. Only bring home what I need "meat". Bring your bags and backpack to carry it out. Less headache later and less to carry around
What type of pack do you use for packing our meat or are you using the pack you take your saddle gear in with?
