Deer cart recommendations

I’m so jelly. How are the skeeters and ticks up there this time of year? When I was there in September I wanted to just set myself on fire to get rid of them.
Also I’ve derailed the thread…
I’m super curious to see how the Hawk cart handles a freaking moose. Pics if/when please. It’d be great for Hawk to make some decent products lol.
Skeeters are about done by now but researchers for fish and wildlife have found dead moose here in the wintertime with over 100k ticks on them.

THAT is a deal. GET it before they are all gone! THank us later!

And I did. Thank you. Till the snow hits, this is it. Nice fat tire mod would be cool.

Hawk is great but could be better if it had a brake. Tacking that thing like a sailboat down a hill with 200+ pounds can be tricky. Also, don't run it along any creek or river trails that have an incline... If that's the only route make sure you have a boot dryer

Cue a catchy Sesame Street song about “Things Nobody in Your Neighborhood Thinks About”.
Thank you for your very important public service announcement.

Hey yall, This past week I killed the biggest buck I've ever taken... I was 2.5 miles deep in the woods, and the terrain to get out was hilly, thick, rocky, and littered with logs and other obstacles. I use a Chapelle jet sled, and normally that works just fine, but this drag took me 4 hours to get it out, and If it werent for the help of a friend, I’m not sure I'd been able to get it out alone. I literally spent the entire day in bed the next day after that drag.

Does any have experience using a deer cart and a jetsled? Was it way easier using the cart? If so, what cart would you recommend? I’m currently looking at the hawk crawler cart or one of the traditional 2 wheel carts.

Please save the "Just cut it up and pack it out" I prefer dragging the deer out whole :)
Hawk crawler!! Awesome!

Does the hawk cart break down and stow away easily? The 2 wheel cart is nice in that aspect. Remove the wheels and they nice and flat also to, it doesn't take up much truck bed space

I think this about the only time Hawk has been recommended on this forum. I meant to look at one of these at Academy the other day but I forgot.

That's the 1 I have. For the 50 or 60 bucks it cost, it paid for itself imo. I had a 18 foot pole 6" diameter strapped to it taking some debris out of the woods at my grandmas farm and it bent the bars a little but other than that it takes all the abuse I put it thru. The 1 "modification" I made was stack up some washer and tacked welded them together to make spacers to take out side to side slop in the axle and wheel lateral movement. Without the spacer if I push the axle bar all the way to 1 side the opposite side tire has like an inch of play. I think it was 5/8 axle and i think I used 3, 3/4 washers on either side to make the spacers? Don't quote me on it ..I've owned it for a while ..at least 6 years

I have one of those I built a hitch onto to pull behind my bike. It works good, although with a big deer my bike doesn't like it lol been meaning to redesign the hitch but haven't yet. My 4 year old likes to put stuff on it and push it around the yard too.Screenshot_20231019-222043_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20231019-222059_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20231019-221528_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20231019-221638_Gallery.jpg

I made a similar connection and the front tire gets light with a load....hahaha

You and I both should make an axle mounted connection. Look at those baby trailers and the bracket that those use

Yep, it wants to ride a wheelie lol I been wanting to make it off the axle, or something similar to what out on a limb done. We're getting slow at work and I'll have the time to mess with it in a few weeks.

Hawk cart is great, I'm having some issues with the handle on mine wanting to fold, but mostly because I lost one of the wing nuts that keeps it open.
.they are on sale at Scheels right now, definitely worth it IMHO, even though I'm having a slight issue with mine (will be fixed with s trip to the hardware store for a new wingnut)

Maybe it’s just me, but it’s wild to me to hear anyone recommend anything hawk. You’re not the first person I’ve heard say the game cart is legit. Why can’t their other stuff be even halfway decent?

I had great luck with their helium climbing sticks. I was blessed enough to upgrade to something lighter but would use those again for sure. New people buy less expensive things but don’t take the time to learn to use it. Then they buy $400 sticks, watch 23 tube videos, practice, and say it works better. It’s user error 99% of the time but no one admits it because it wasn’t a cool brand.

It's weird recommending something from them for sure but they got it right with this cart. It's heavy which is the only real negative in my opinion but it works really well. Even with missing bolts(the handle kept trying to fold up on me) it was super helpful getting my buck out last week, went over quite a few logs. I've got new bolts and wingnut, and it'll be even better with a fully functional handle.

To be honest I still have and liked my 30" helium sticks I started out with. Never had the suction cup issues other did, but moved on from them because they are heavy. Don't think I'd reccomend anything else from hawk though.

I’m in the market for a cart myself after I recovered this guy. my friend in photos brought the cart over “just in case” and I am glad he did cuz I was planning to drag the buck with 8mm cord lol. For reference, my friend is about 5’10” and 215# easily. and even though the buck was pushing the size limit, pulling the cart was a one-man job. He piled up only 300 yds from the house and I was still incredibly winded after rolling him out, but it was way better than trying to drag about 250 lbs of deer carcass any distance at all.View attachment 92905View attachment 92904I dunno what brand this one is and it’s kinda old. My buddy said it was left by the previous owners of his home. It’s a stout one though.
I have that cart. Bought mine on Amazon but don’t thing it’s available any more. It’s a beast of a cart.
