I’ve scouted 75+ miles this season and I’ve hung 14 cameras so far, I’m now cycling back through and checking them after about a 6 week soak to see what’s around. With the exception of one piece of private, 10 of those cams are public and I’ve got 4 left to check, but so far, nothing to write home about. The private always yields something, but I doubt I’ll have it forever, so I’m trying to sharpen my skills and learn more about public land. If I said moral wasn’t low at the moment, that would be a lie. I do believe some of these spots could light up during rut, so I’m going to leave them the entire season to see what goes on. If good things are happening, I’ll repeat next year to see if I notice a trend. In the mean time, I’m thinking about taking what cams I have left and getting into thick stuff/old cuts. I’ve never done too much of that. I’ve generally always set cams on well used trails, funnels, between suspected bedding on ridges, or points. So maybe I’m missing out on something really good. Anyway, before I ramble too much, I just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone has any input. Hope everyone is doing well!
