Bungie them to the rack on my Radrover fat tire bike.I'm new to this and am curious how the collective group carries their climbing sticks into the woods. I'm looking at buying a new pack that has some sort of cinch straps on the outside. However I think I may also just find me some rope and make a sling.
I'm currently going to use 3 API climbing sticks.

Are the sticks cut down or normal length?View attachment 7273
Maiden voyage with Mantis coming up this afternoon.
They're still original length. I can't bring myself to cutting them yet...even though every time I go out I wish they'd stop getting hung up on everything. Are the sticks cut down or normal length?
Might be a dumb question, but what is the point of cutting the sticks down? +weighs less and is more manageable, -cant get as high in the tree. Do you then carry another one? 4 vs 3. Doesn't that offset any weight savings?
My biggest issue so far is finding a good way to carry the sticks. Currently using 3 lone wolf and 1 hawk as my top. All full length. They are heavy and awkward. I have them tied together with a universal strap. Seems to work ok but but not great. Open to any suggestions.

I got ya... so the key with the shorter sticks is an aider? Are you adding 1 to each stick or 1 you move up and down with you?So your sticks are what 32" bottom step to top step? My short sticks are 22" step to step. Add a single movable aider and my lighter stick now is 44" step to step. You could add aider tp full step, but your carrying extra weight and cumbersome length due to short step spacing.

Thanks for the explanation.

Get LW versa buttons and 1/4" amsteel blue. You can buy it in diff colors, blue is the name of the strongest amsteel. These are all great options. Thank you so much for sharing. I noticed some have replaced the webbing straps with rope. Where do I buy rope and what size do I want? Also are you then tying knots or using some sort of cam to secure the step to a tree?

I like mine connected, a lot of people just tie a long loop and hook it over the top of the stick so they only need 1 for the whole climb.I got ya... so the key with the shorter sticks is an aider? Are you adding 1 to each stick or 1 you move up and down with you?
Thanks for the explanation.

A bolt with nylon spacers and some 1/4" winch rope off Amazon. Then just tie it off like a boat cleat, it's amazing. These are all great options. Thank you so much for sharing.
