DIY hybrid?

Mine has a metal frame. It would need to be wider to reduce the angle of the bridge.

I hunted from one for a couple of seasons with nothing else. Limited mobility, but now that I have seen the modified version, I’m interested to see what it could be.

It looks slick for sure. When you hunted out of one did you ever feel a little tippy when you fully relax with nothing behind you? Just speculating

I wear it while I climb. I like it even better for that since I added the linemen's belt from EWO. I previously had a belt with added tubular webbing and water knots for my linemen's belt. I sit mostly forward in this and kind of hug the tree so I have never felt like I would fall back in it. it is surprisingly comfortable to sit that way. I do back this up with a RCH tied to a second prusic in my tether as my bridge is stitched by me. I am not a professional.
 
I don't want to poopoo on anyone's parade. But i highly recommend trying a hybrid or web first. I'm not telling you that you'll end up in it. But I think it's pretty important to see what you're aiming for first. I was hard headed, and had a web before I went down this road. I was convinced, just like all of you are, that I could just make a seat and it would be super comfortable and solve all the problems. Once you're in the rabbit hole, you'll very likely find yourself at one end or the other - sitting in a soft saddle and dealing with the discomfort that comes with that, or committing to the hybrid or web style. I spent a stupid amount of time trying to find that middle ground. It ultimately ends up where I'm dealing with the bulk of a rigid component, and not getting the comfort/maneuverability to make it worth it.

I really hope someone proves me wrong. I'm sure there's hundreds of folks out there still hunting with a treesuit. But I bet most of those folks would prefer a web or hybrid given the choice.

I have a choice and do prefer a hybrid. It is so comfortable. However I have situations where my modified tree suit just works a little better for me and is still pretty comfortable.

I would say the main reason I prefer the tree suit while hunting with my self bow is I just haven’t had time to practice shooting much out of the hybrid with my self bows. I got it right before archery season. I expect that may change by next season.

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree.
No platform required, only a ROS, no knee pads required, no sore knees, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs.
Come to the light, the JX3 light...........

You had me at “no back aches”. That $450 price is hard to swallow though

There is an old adage from my grandfather that has served me well over the years.
"Quality and comfort is long remembered after the price is forgotten".

I just received a JX3 to try it out per Kyler's suggestion. It was without a doubt the most comfortable stand I have ever touched my but too but it had a few drawbacks to me; the primary one being the challenge of shooting over the bridge. Now, I am a little thicker than he is, I am 6'1" 235 and if I ran a short bridge that allowed me to almost go over the bridge to shoot weak side the comfort level dropped. I was hopeful I wouldn't have to walk around the tree to take shots so I gave it a shot, but I just wasn't able to do that. I do think it's a great option, it just wasn't for me at this time.

Thanks, this was my fear. I dont want to be walking around a tree. If Im gun hunting maybe, but with a platform I dont need to walk around.
