I dragged a doe a half mile the other day after I shot her and gutted her, even though I carry a kill kit. Which was stupid. So here’s the new rig, these are L-Shape Hang-All’s from Harbor Freight. I had bolts laying around from some API steps I bought and drilled the holes out to 5/16ths in the brackets and the pack frame. The frame has been laying around for a few years with the LOUDEST PACK EVER attached.

Once I got the brackets on, I lashed some cheap rope around with a girth hitch at the beginning and
just an overhand to itself at the end. This gives me about 30’ of rope (300#) that I have easy access to as well as a meat shelf.

I’ll be running bullman step snatch straps around the frame for securing meat loads to the frame and shelf. I’ll also add a small back pack for things like my face paint, thermacell and water to go up the tree with me. I’ll use the four points of attachment from the old bag and replace these key rings with cotter pins. I’ll make some sort of tag on the end of the pin so it’s easier on and off. What do you guys think?

Ps. I’ll peel off those stickers and color the yellow caps black.

It has one. It’s just off. Also, I could put this around trees instead of carrying knee pads. Gotta love double duty.

Now I took some leg straps from old drop leg holsters I had laying around and screwed those to the frame so my sticks will ride in such a way that when they’re clipped in, quarters in game bags can go on either side.

Here’s where I’ll make my money, the bag is a silent approach step bag. The right side is for my ROS. The left side is for my kill kit. Then the backpack clips over all that. When I make a kill, it all gets packed up and carries out. And the first load can be all my saddle gear plus what I can fit on either side of my sticks on the shelf. I could’ve packed out the entire deer like this the other day.

Thanks! Way handy in terms of weight management and the work required to get the job done without exhausting myself. The whole rig gets left at the bottom of the tree when I'm hunting and it cost me a grand total of $22 with the frame being bought at a thrift sto
Why don't you debone the meat? Saves allot of weight. Having packed out 6 elk on my back, the last one we deboned and kicked ourselves for not doing it sooner.

Not worth the time and effort to debone a whitetail in most scenarios in my opinion. Hek i have packed a few out whole if it was less than a mile. Didnt even gut them. Of course our deer are only about 100 lbs.

Does the top of your stick not catch on everything in the woods? Or are you traveling through more open terrain? I used to have Lone Wolf's strapped to my MR Pop up 28 and they barely stuck up a bit and I about left them in the woods because every vine or branch grabbed them, but it is pretty thick in Bama.

They did when I carried the sticks that way. Now I replaced those straps with stick talons and it forced me to turn the stick around. And since I only run one climbing stick now, I just pay attention to lifting stuff or picking the right path to move through the woods in such a way that it doesn't bug me. I honestly only use this pack when I go WAY back (a mile or more). When I don't use it, I have an aider that has two smaller weight bearing carabiners that clip to my bottom step on the stick. I'll unclip one side and clip it to the top step and sling it over my shoulder. When I do use it, its easy enough to just duck a few inches lower than normal.
