DIY summit openshot

I guess it's all personal preference. I think its quicker and quieter than climbing sticks and alot easier to adjust height on the fly. Transportation is easy, just use the cable as a shoulder strap and it keeps it close to your body and it reduces your profile traveling in the woods. In reality it all works its just what works best for you that matters.

Yea, I forgot to post it.
10lbs with wooden platform, so I would guess 7 with expanded aluminum metal.

Just wondering if you practiced any with your platform. If you are like most of us....things are getting busy around the house and family. I'm thinking of experimenting on my summit top also and was curious of your thoughts when you try it some. Thanks!

I haven't gotten a chance to do anything with it. I did FINALLY get my saddle but have been traveling every week so haven't finished my setup yet. Hopefully I can get a chance in September. If so I will update the thread

OK, I finally got some time over the holiday weekend to test the summit climbing option. I climbed two different trees with it and them climbed the same two trees with my hawk helium sticks. My hawk sticks are the new style which I removed the cam buckle and added a rope for a Chinese knot. Results in my opinion are as follows.
The hawk sticks are alot quieter. The summit is harder to control drag on the tree.
The hawk climbing sticks required alot less effort which resulted in less sweating, which is a major plus.
The difference in weight was around .60 of one pound. I did find it alot better carrying the stackable sticks. Which they have the suction cup stacking system on that is a great addition.
So overall for me I wont be using the summit, I see no real advantage for the extra effort required to climb. In addition I did need to add a strap to the summit to stabilize it so I could use side load. I do have a tethrd predator platform I plan to use this season. I hope this helps answer some questions other might have when looking at options to climb. For reference I am 5'11" 175 lbs in fairly good shape. The effort required to reach 18' with the summit in my opinion was three times and much physical exercise and it was around 80f.
Thx

I also tried my summit.......way to much effort to climb for me.

Ok. It was raining all weekend here last week so decided to do a DIY climber for the tethrd. Its certainly a prototype for testing. I know there are some using the lone wolf hand climber but I do like the bigger platform. I will post more when my tethrd arrives.
