Sounds to me like the trick is to make a full length bury. Then the part of the amsteel that is gripped by the prusik isn't hollow and subject collapse, it acts more like a double braid and the pinch action of the prusik will hold.Amsteel seems pretty slippery to use a friction hitch on, to me. I'm surprised it's working....

Absolutely correct. I tried it yesterday without the burry and the Prussik didn’t want to bite and folded up the bridge. The full length bury makes all the difference.

If the prussic and bridge are both buried are they not still the same dia

That is what Greg stated in an interview. I Don’t remember who posted it on YouTube.Sounds to me like the trick is to make a full length bury. They are. Which is why I said I want to try a smaller diameter prussik when my next order of amsteel arrives. I tried the 1/4” without it being buried full length and it didn’t work out very well with accessory cord or amsteel.

Well I just tried it with a sterling hollow block. That works too

I’m sure you both already know this but just psa for anyone that doesn’t sterling states that the Hollowblock should not be used as main life supporting piece. In the case of using it as a prusik on an amsteel bridge it would qualify as a main life supporting piece.
Yes, I knew that. If I decide to actually go with an adjustable Amsteel bridge with the hollow block or an Amsteel prussic, I would create an eye splice with the tag end rather than a stopper knot. I would use a carabiner or soft shackle to connect that tag end eye back to my right side bridge loop as a back up tie-in point. This would keep me from hitting the deck if the prussic failed. The way I see Tethrd’s utilibridge, there is no backup if the Amsteel prussic fails.
Samson doesn’t recommend knots in Amsteel

So how does a spliced eye work on a tag end that already has a bury? Just having trouble getting the picture in my head. I'm inexperienced when it comes to amsteel.
That is correctSo the really long bury isn't part of the spliced eye on the end. And if a knot is used, the long bury stops right before the knot would be, correct? Since the locked brummel holds the bury in place, the length of the bury only becomes needed for the amsteel prussic to work properly. Am I understanding that properly.
